Q:

My Regulated .25

I have settled on my .25 setup. It is now a pellet shooter. It is shooting JSB’s in the 930’s right now but can be set to shoot anywhere from the 890’s to 950’s on 1800 psi.

It has a 82 gram barrel riding hammer, 4.7 lb hammer spring with a TJ’s .25 auto barrel.

I will build a .25 slug gun here again someday. I have a 34″ barrel but no time right now.

It is set to shoot JSB’s only. 930 fps is good for me. I can put the smaller spacer in and get 950’s but shot count goes down. Or I can put a thicker spacer in and its around 900 fps and shot count goes up.

The thing is real quiet and accurate. It shoots 43 gr around 790 fps and 70 gr around 670 fps. 70 fpe on 1800 psi.

How does it compare to an unregulated Condor, power wise?

I don’t know how a .25 pellet works in a barrel that measures .257″. Maybe they are putting a choke on it.

I just spent some time messing with my reg setup. Tired or the creep I was getting. Took and made the o ring grooves deeper on the plunger because they were to tight.

Put it back together and it was shooting 905-909 now. So I had to make a new setup to test the reg pressure. I had sold it to a member on here.

Well after spending at least 45 min making the 2 pieces I fired it one more time and it shot the same as the last shot.

So I took it all apart and tested the reg. It was at 1650 psi now. I guess I put it back together out of order. So it took me awhile to get it back to 1800 psi and ended up at 1810 psi.

Now the reg stays steady until it gets close to reg pressure.

I just did a 99 shot string.
High 935
Low 923
spread 12
Average 928
SD 2

Last shot was 925 so there is still some more shots in it.

doug is there a best of both worlds barrel.. shooting .25 pellets then go to .257 slugs? Thought i read something about the .257 barrels r&l has shooting pellets accurately? is there such a animal?

That sounds very impressive Doug. 😀

I have an Altros Reg here that I got from OG. Wish it would work on the .257, but I would just about bet it would need a pre-chamber similar to what your doing on your reg’s.

Wouldn’t it be fantastic to come up with a 4500 psi bottle and reg it down to 3000-3200 psi! Woo-Hoo!!! 😈 Now that would Kick butt!!!

I did a 100 shot string the other day and it started at 940 fps and ended at 925 fps. Most of the shots were in the 930’s only once in the 940’s.

I’m still getting 12 fps rise if I let it set. Trying to figure that one out. I have probably 5000 shots through this reg. I cleaned it but that didn’t change it.

Hello , Dyotat

First it looks very nice, i want to know more about valve, Tank, and regulator.

I believe that if i want long shots (more than 50 yards) i need a lot of consistency for it, then is necessary a regulator.

Do you have a complete string with this setup?

I made them out of a solid bar.

Bore it to 1.260″ to match the frame. Then cut it in half to make 2.
Then machine a slot so the rail can sit in. Then I drill and tap 2 10-32 holes 2″ apart in the frame.

They screw on with 2 10-32 allens. All my guns have the same mount in the same location.

Doug,

what adapter are u using to mount your harris to the lower rail?

Sweet!!! :8:

It’s only 13.875″ long.

The .257’s is 21.875″ long

Love the “Monster Can” on that Thing! 😀 😈

No.

Just another piece to make things not line up. I was using medium rings and now I’m using high.

No tri-rail Doug?

That’s one sweet set up Doug! 😀 Old Goat sent me a Altros a couple of weeks ago. He tried it for the Boss to .257 project.

I haven’t tried it yet, Too dammed cold and wet out side lately. 😆 But I will just abut bet it is going to need a larger chamber as well.

Been casting a lot lately. Sent Tof some 60 grainers and looking forward to hearing wht they do in his cannon! 😀

Merry Christmas Doug!
