Can’t you get the IR LEDs pre-mounted on heat sink stars? I haven’t done anything with IR flashlights, but I’ve built/modified regular lights and you can pretty much always get them pre-mounted.

There may be places that do, But none that I am aware of in the USA.
Perhaps one of the guys Rolaids listed as custom builders will..but I bet it won’t be 10 bucks anymore.
I’ll do em for Tag guys for free…If you feel you cant do it…

I can’t read it either. Just don’t open till its flow solder time

Finally got the flashlights (2). NICE, can’t believe how inexpensive they were. I didn’t think they would take the 18650 battery but they do. Just have to make a sleeve for them.
They say the chips must be installed within ??? hours. What’s that all about. I’m reluctant to open the package until I have extra time. 😆 Shit, being retired is like being retarded. I’ve got more problems now than I used to have in five years.
Damn, I forgot to eat breakfast or lunch today ❗

Definitly. Look forward to a proven DIY post.

what power of l.e.d. flashlight would be required and where could I get the IR l.e.d. 😕

I hate doing fine work anymore but have most of the equipment including several LED flashlights a couple are 1600 lumin with focus.

I have a ton of interest if it is the high end custom T20 type light for night hunting that Roland tested other wise cheapo’s are cheap !!

Not to give you a hard time Doug, But the above is the attitude that most seem to have.

“High end custom builds….. and cheapo’s are cheap”.

WHY? At this time every custom builder uses the same led chip..aki..the same light bulb(lir led).
Next year there may be a new better one..but right now its the same darn light bulb..just a bigger or smaller lens in some kinda enclosure. You can call it the T20, or a 501b..its just the case. The bulb and Lens is what make it work.

Thats kinda the reason behind this, once you know how its made you will come to realize, its all DIRT CHEAP..and I can do that.

The hard part of making any of these light is the flow soldering.
This IS the stumbIing block. If you can get by this part you can make any size light you want.

Here is a link to flow soldering..This is the hard part

Guess I’m the only one to vote so far. But I speak for a lot of guys that would get interested if it is good, useable and not overly costly.

Was thinking about putting together a vid..or maybe just pics.. on how to make an IR light.
But if no one cares..why bother

what are you talking about?
