YES!!!
Guy’s, Have you seen this? Can we now have a 4500 psi bottle and a reg. st 3000 for the.257??? Is it possible??? ๐ฏ

Yeah, but we’re talking a 4500 bottle here, which is the main point of this discussion, for my purposes.

J-T, If you had to have your reg set at such a high psi to get the desired velocity, you would have very little in the way of a shot count. Your bottle for instance, a 3000 psi bottle would only be able to feed it for one shot. And even that would require you to fill it to 3200 go get there.
But if you were to have a chamber large enough to be able to set it at say 18oo psi for the same fps, you would get a fairly LARGE shot count. If you dont want a large shot count, you dont need the reg. in the first place. As filling to 3200 and shooting one shot would be the same results as a reg set at 3000 and filling to 3200psi. One or two shots, and you are already below the desired setting. If the bottle is below the reg set point, it cannot do it’s job. It will shoot to the lower pressure. It cannot put out more pressure than it is fed by the bottle feeds it.

I would rather have enough reservoir for 1 shot + than to compensate for it by raising the pressure . I like the idea they got goingโฆ Just wish there wasn’t so much grey area with the information. I tried to find out how much actual volume it has in the post chamber but i wasn’t successful in acquiring this info. I do agree it seems too small i like how it drops down and lowers the bottle + it is a regulator
I understand that, but say 3500 at the reg provides similar performance, would you have consistent velocity? You would certainly get more shots due to much higher reservoir pressure. At the tune that produces that level of power, pressure and velocity drop quickly. That’s what I want to fix. As long as the reg can provide consistency, how doesn’t matter much.
I’ve been eyeing the Citrus setup for a while, but I’ve had reservations for just the reasons you bring up. I’m hesitant to drop that kind of coin without some hope of success. It seems that my idea of success is different from yours, and it may well work for me, where it won’t meet your requirements. Given that I’m prone to hair-brained schemes, I’m hoping for some confirmation, but the whole thing may be moot since the setup isn’t moving past the concept stage very quickly.

There’s the problem. 3200 psi in a reg setup wouldn’t get you the same numbers.
Just like Pab said above. He is getting 900 fps with 2500 psi reg and 31 gr. I get 905 fps with 1800 psi and same pellet. So you can see the difference it makes having a larger chamber.
I’m shooting a non-reg setup. Just a matter of curiosity really. Right now, at 3200, I’m getting around 950-960 from 43grn Eun Jin through an 18″ barrel for 10-ish shots. That’s pushing to the point where consistency is a bit flaky. If I can get a bit more consistency and more shot’s to boot, I’d trade efficiency in a heartbeat.
John
Its fine but just not efficient. If you have a 3000 psi tank it is really not worth it.
what are you shooting with 3000 psi reg? Just curious on weight and fps.
Sincere question. If the reg chamber requires 3000psi to get the same performance as a larger chambered reg at 2500, why is that a problem? As long as I can get the desired fps and more shots cuz my tank carries more pressure, I’m happy. What’s the downside?
John
Yup, my rig had an etac reg+jds reg set at 2500psi. On a 19 inch barrel this pushed .25 31 grain Baracudas at 900 fps.
A decent pre-chamber is the trick. That tiny chamber on the etacreg just isn’t big enough to produce the power needed for heavier projectiles.
You can’t sip from a shot glass and get the same result as glugging from a pint glass…
Maybe light .22’s or .177. But I still think it is going to be real similar to a etac-reg. They work but a higher reg setting is needed.
OH Yeah! That would dbe fantastic Doug! :8:
I’m sure the angled body of that toy shown has plenty of volume for a .22 pellet shooter. Problem is, We ain’t shoot’n no stinking .22 pellet shooter! ๐

Well take it from someone who has spent a lot of time messing with regs. There is no way that has enough volume in it to work without bumping up the pressure to compensate for lack of volume.
The chamber I have is 2″ ร1.3″. This gives me 960 fps on 1800 psi. I made 3 different sizes until the size change didn’t change the fps.
I’m making a larger one for a .30 pellet shooter here soon. I have the piece cut but I have to buy a special tool to bore out the inside of the collar.
Also going to regulate my .257 some day here with a large pre chamber and and a 4500 psi tank.
I called citrus to inquire about the regulator and tank.
basicly He has a prototype of the regulator and bottle that is working great, he said that there was enough pre chamber in the design. basically what it boils down to is him finding a means of having them reproduced at a rate that people will pay. so its basically on the back burner.. the bottles are aluminum with carbon fiber wrap. he said that he worked with the bottle manufacture to have them made exclusively for him so we probably won’t find them else where. possibly if we wanted the bottles or the reg we would need to poll enough interest and work out a price.
As in a pre-chamber?

True that! I’ve been calling for a 4500 psi bottle for sometime now! It would solve a lot of problems. And a reg would take care of the valve lock that you would otherwise have at such a high pressure!
Says sold out on the page for teh 4500 psi bottle. I have a 3000 larger bottle on hold with Doug. It should help some with the shot count. ๐
