Help with proper service matador Reg.
I just bought a used R3 std. .22, said to have 1000 rounds through. I was picking up the fps through a reg tweak and found the series of washers looking greasy between layers but due to a lack of knowledge on how to properly clean and service and what to lube with i elected to reinstall as is for now and ask ?? What is the best treatment for a reg. clean and lube ???

If you have the time do polish all the washer, I use ultra sonic tumbler using 1800 grit for 30min then polish with soft felt wheel. I did see the string got tighter when polish, but again I have done so many mods it could have been all of them! :geekn:

I think that makes the whole stack operate better. If there is any surface friction where the washers slide against each other it would cause the operation of the reg to be effected.
By “grease” you mean silicone right?
yes that’s way I removed that old sticky grease. never lube springs with heavy grease it will slow it down. on cricket it will slow it down by 25fps so I use dry lube. even removed that green color grease on the edgun HS.
Thanks so much for your response, might the cleaning and slick 50 treatment stabilize the FPS spread some, the original grease looks sticky !!
that is stock grease on the washers—> its normal.
I clean with lint free whips only. I use light coating of slick 50 spray on the washer. the washer section on the piston has no pressure between the two orings–if one of the oring leaks it will come out the tail-tail hole on the air tube. I use super lube syntactic grease on the orings and moving parts in the reg.

Thanks, again, i suspected as much but thought id ask before hand. It’s funny how 30 years of racing gives you an eye for mechanical things unrelated but related. 🙂
