Easy comfortable cheekpiece.

When I got my .25 cricket from Steve at wwag they were out of walnut cheekpieces. He assured me they would be in stock in a couple of weeks and they were. Wanting something to use in the mean time that wasn’t too complicated I took a piece of 2″ abs drain pipe and cut about a 1/3 wide strip out of a piece long enough to go from the rear of the breach to the rear scope mount. Same length as the walnut cheekpiece. I sanded the bottom edge to lay an the stock an left it wide enough to curve up over the receiver. This photo gives a rear view and shows what I mean.

Next I gave it some shape on a bandsaw and belt sander. I then took a 6″ piece of 3/4 pex water line and cut a about a 1/3 wide strip out of the whole length of it and attached it to the abs. This piece fits over the barrel and hold the cheekpiece onto the gun. Again a picture shows a lot better.

I used some small wood screws to attach the pex to the abs and countersunk them into the pex then ground off the protruding tips. Next I covered the heads in the pex with a little tape to prevent marring the barrel. This cheekpiece is very comfortable and could be shaped and modified in many ways. It comes off easy and stays put when on. It doesn’t look as nice as the walnut but is much nicer to shoot with. Also provides a nice place to tape my hold overs for long range shots. Thought this may work for matadors as well though I’m not sure. Here’s a few more photos.
