Sling stud installation on cricket

Do you guys feel it is better to instal the front stud in the forend at the end, on the angle slope portion or come back app. An inch on the flat surface? Also what about the rear stud on the Skelton stock the flat part app. 3/4 inch from but pad or on the thicker angle potion? If done on angle area will this make gun sling carry an different?
I’ve seen pics of both ways, I don’t want to screw my stock up.
