question about oem shroud on bug?
Got a new 22 bug coming, shroud doesn’t have holes in the rear? Do only the 25’s have the holes? Been trying to find an old post, where Hoot described drilling holes in an ed gun shroud or enlarging them. Would this help or hurt in sound reduction? Need advice or direction to an old post. Did old 22’s come with holes in shroud?

You don’t need no stinkin’ holes. Reminds me of the movie Holes. Digging holes for no reason other than to kill resale value. My .22 Standard Cricket has no holes and doesn’t need them. Now dressing the gun up with cool looking carbon fiber shroud replacements will probably raise the resale – especially if you have the original shroud and they can always go back to it. 😎

I feel the same way – pretty damn quiet. I can´t imagine why on Earth i´d need quieter still so i got me a couple of CF shrouds for the looks alone. :whistle:
I wont drill any holes on my shrouds – neither the OEM nor the CF – and i don´t know why Hoot: insisted on doing so. Keep this between us but i think he´s a bit weird and obsessed of all kinds of holes. Once he sees a hole he wants to “drill” it and if there are no holes he´ll make sure there will be so he can “go drillin`” . A very strange Man … 😯
I would think the holes would help, but I don’t feel like its necessary. I have two crickets .22 and .25 they are pretty quiet from the factory.

Only one way to fill a hole, you got to pack it. Question is, do you have enough packing to fill the hole?
