Q:

New to AF guns

I’m still learning about the AirForce guns and while I’m doing my homework I was hoping to get some suggestions from the forum.

I will be hunting rabbits and small hogs so fpe will be most important.

I seeing now that the Condor is the powerful one of the bunch. So now it’s coming down to which one?

PA offers a package for $1575 which includes extra barrel, what looks to be a decent scope etc…. Is it worth it?

The bounty hunter offers the fpe I’m looking for but it seems the Escape does also but is less expensive.

I do want a quiet gun but it comes second to hunting attributes.

Is Talon Tunes the only ones that tune these guns, do I need the tune job or is out of the box really good?

Thanks everyone.

You have aways to go to hit 100 fpe.

There is nothing wrong with 24″ barrel. It is real easy to turn them down.

You just need to run a spacer behind the top hat. With a longer barrel you get more out of your air.

What fpe is your gun at max. Do the 43gr pellets not group as well?

I love a shorter gun so the 18″ would be nice.

Did talon tunes wind up bringing the shorter barrel up to the longer barrel fpe?

You’ll have to excuse any ignorance on my part I’m still learning while I’m waiting on my money to come in.

I’ve hit 975fps with 43grn EJs. They’ll group between 930-950fps, but aren’t really reliable above 870fps. So I can wring 100fpe out of the gun. I can shoot 85fpe if precision isn’t essential, but for real accuracy, energy is lower. I bought my Condor from Talon Tunes, so I can’t compare with factory performance. With a tuned 18″ barrel, I’ve got power I can’t use. But I’m working on that, as are several others.

I’ve got a Condor SS with the 18″ barrel. Tony at Talon Tunes talked me out of a longer barrel. I’m glad now that I’ve shot some. The primary limit on my gun is ammo. Longer barrel means more power. Commercial ammo is overpowered by my Condor. A 24″ barrel supplies power you can’t use and efficiency that’s nice, but not essential. I can shoot a lot on a fill at lower power. To benefit from a 24″ barrel you really need custom ammo.

My late model trigger is fine after Tony smoothed it up. I’d definitely look at the TT one piece tophat. It helps a lot in getting the most from a Condor. The most power, most efficiency, most consistency. The 18″ SS is plenty quiet, augmented by TT.

Haven’t messed with the new gun with there new trigger setup.

All my builds are with the old frames and I use the super sear that makes them work good.

I like it, the wok looks good.

On the barrels from PA they were same cal just different lengths.

I’m thinking one barrel length should cover all my needs, so I’ll have to learn about making it quiet as possible.

How’s the trigger on the condors.

quote Dyotat100:

Just buy a .25 condor.Then buy a decent scope.

With the money you save you can get a wok guard and AR grip and you will still have money left over. Now you’ll have a nice gun and it will look real nice.

If you want to pick up another barrel you can get one use later. But once you shoot .25 you won’t want to switch.

Then just spend some time reading here and shooting it.
