Ernest Tuned .25 Cricket compact, walnut stock
I thought this a pretty cool setup. 30 shots at 40 FPE so about 845 FPS with Kings. The guy doesn’t mention accuracy. Maybe a bit loud? I wonder why he is selling it? $1550. What do you think of a mini .25 caliber. Kind of the TalonP of Crickets.

There is only 2.5″ difference between the Compact and the Standard and that ain’t nuttin’ at all except to my wife. 😆
Oh ok i see.. I have to study more, i like high magnification and this compact 22 is hard to fit a scope i like already so std. Might be ok.
I am sure there are standard .177s left and really there isn’t much difference other than they get a better shot count. I nearly went with the standard one.
Doug…
Brant, I think I am about to jump on the .177 band wagon, I am having a ton of fun with this 22 cricket compact and that huge shot count sounds super cool. I don’t want to turn down my 22 for larger counts so just maybe… Steve told me that he had 80 guns coming and a .177 or .25 either one would be easily available.
Doug…
I have three .25s right now but if it had been a .177 and before I ordered a new one I would have really considered it.
Hi, Brant.
I’m selling b/c I can’t justify a $1600 gun that I don’t shoot much. I’ve owned it for around 4 months and have put less than a tin of JSB’s through it. It’s not for a lack of desire to do so, I just don’t have many occasions to use that much power. In retrospect I think I got caught up in the purchase without fully thinking through how often I would actually use it. 40ft/lbs is a lot of gun for my suburban backyard. With the funds I plan to buy a .22 Royale with power adjuster (you likely saw one of my WTB ads over the last 6 weeks) so I can plink on low in the yard and turn it up when given the opportunity.
As for the history on the gun, this was Ernest’s personal gun. He said he did “all of his tunes” but I assume that was as of when he sold it – so polish & lube, trigger, suppressor, regulator, etc. The barrel is polished which is a nice touch. It does not have the modded magazines he just posted photos of on TAG.
The gun shoots very well. it is efficient on Air and the regulator works as it should. I get 30 shots at 847 with JSBs for 40ft/lbs. I have not shot it much beyond 35 yards – at that range it is a ragged hole smaller than a dime. When I did take it to 50 I got a nickel but I blame that on me. The gun basically hits what you point it at. One thing to note on all the cricket pups is that they do not have a safety. The trigger is currently set very light so for hunting purposes you might want to adjust it to be a little heavier.
As for sound, as is, it is around the same as a .25 Mrod with the supressor shown in the photo. For back yard shooting I have a cricket supressor from one of the long pups that I install. It adds 6″ to the total length and makes the cricket the most quiet .25 I have shot. I plan to list the long suppressor sepperately for $100 but I’ll throw it in for $75 if you buy the gun.
So that’s the story on my end, I hope it helps. Oh, it also shoots predators well with the single shot tray (made by Ernest), but it does shift the POI slightly.
Ben
He sent me that EXACT email too when i messaged him! haha.. and I’m sure he’s mainly selling due to the lower shot count/higher noise of a compact .25…he said he was comparing it to the marauder’s sound
For reference, here is one of the write ups on the accuracy…
Guys –
I’ve had this posted on TAG for about a week. Happy to answer any questions you might have. Also, for reference, I have made no mods to the gun since purchase (to address the shroud question above).
Ben
Ben sent me some info on why he is selling.

I think he finally voted himself off of the island. 😆
I actually just placed an order for a synthetic stock and cheek piece and they told me 160 guns are coming in and wwag are very excited
Hey where is Our Forum protector to stop everyone from buying the cricket??? Haven’t seen him around
I know (about the little bird). I am on the hook for one of them. :biggrinn: the .177 Compact Crickets are all presold and I heard the others are going very quickly. Poor Ernest. 😆
Ride – did you ever hear what happened to Shanu’s Omega/Raptor?
I also had a little bird tell me that Wild West Air Guns is just days away from getting in the biggest shipment of kalibergun’s he has ever had come in. Over 80 guns so a good selection of guns that are not all presold. !!!
I think it would be an awesome shooter, I love having a driver quality version of collectible things to just use the shit out of !!!
