Audible Observations of .22 Talon SS & .25 Condor with LDC
The Talon SS has a 12″ barrel and the Shroud works well. It is quiet enough for the backyard. The Condor in .25 with a 24 inch barrel is horribly loud without an LDC. It is about 22 rimfire loud. So I called up Mr. Neil Clague and he fashioned me an LDC that was simply extraordinary. The Condor is now quieter than the Talon SS. It is about as quiet, if not more so than the Marauder .25. And that is while putting out 55fpe, compared to the 42fpe of the marauder and the 20fpe of the Talon SS. The remaining sound on the Condor is Hammer Slap. The Marauder has ping. The Talon SS you still hear some air expansion and hammer slap of a higher tone.
The Talon SS is great to walk about the woods with. Short and reasonably quiet, I have a tri-rail on it and it shoulders reasonably well for an AF gun.
The Condor is very long, and with the LDC even more so. But the fact that it can be so quiet and so powerful makes it valuable.
The Marauder is nice for its repeating action, but its really heavy. It is slightly shorter than the Condor with the LDC added, but heavier, not as powerful, and it is less moddable, and closer to it’s ceiling than the Condor. But its a good gun within its limits.
