Q:

Condor vs Condor SS in .25"

Had an itch for AF guns for 7+ years, almost bought one back in November, ended up buying a new .22″ AA S510 instead, now its time to finally scratch this itch. Narrowed down the choice to .25″ cal, either Condor or Condor-SS. The rig will evolve a little with a few TT bits such as LDC, TTTA, adjustable top-hat, possibly TT hammer, ultimately want 55-65 ft/lb with JSB Kings, Beeman Kodiaks or equivalents per what the rig prefers, (40-80 yard plinking and hunting of small game, stickler for consistent accuracy).

A couple questions for the seasoned AF owners;
1) Considering the mods I have planned, (top-hat, hammer, …), does the Condor SS with its shorter barrel give up much if any energy vs the Condor? If it does can it effectively and efficiently be brought up to comparable power levels while retaining its tack driving accuracy without too much compromise vs the Condor?
2) TT LDC for the Condor SS, does it replace the Sound-Loc shroud or add on to the end? Most interested in over all length of the Condor SS vs Condor with comparable performing TT LDC attached.

Thank you in advance,
Paul

New-bee me, I have C-SS in .25 with 12mm OD barrel. It did OK. Added .22 16mm barrel, TT tophat Med. insert, TT S-hammer, TT shroud, 10x40x60 ZOS scope. Now I can not stop shooting. I am running out of air, ammo, and time. Yes, to me that is the answer to fun. What more do you need ?? Maybe .25 24″ barrel ?? A real life?? A longer job schedule ??

Yeah! Know Kidd’n! 👿

For your info all AF gun use basically the same frame except for length. TalonP has a different thread on the tank side of the valve body and a different seal. Talon has a smaller stem setup to lower power.

So when they say the talonP dies 1/2″ group so will the condor or the talon.

The only gun that is different is the edge.

All they do is re configure them and come up with a new name.

They need to step up to the plate and rethink why they cut away to much of the breech area. Make it a side cocker and we would have a way better gun.

Going for the Talon-P, ordering this week. Pending how it feel and works out, may end up getting the Condor SS later this year as well.
Seems logical that accuracy over long distance would suffer with the short 12″ barrel and especially being a pistol/carbine type gun vs a positively held rifle shot placement would vary more as well. Found a few reports that the Talon-P is capable of sub 1″ groups at 50 yards, far better than I am capable of shooting. Down the road if not satisfied am willing to step up to 18″ barrel.
For now getting the gun and at least one of the goodies from Tony, may have a small bonus coming which will go towards more TT goodies on the list.

Thank you again guys for helping narrow the down between the Condor vs Condor SS.

The TP will not give you the accuracy at long range of the C or CSS. The tiny tank is good for about 10 shots.

I believe you will be missing the shot count 😉 I dont know how many shots the talon p gets but i am pretty sure it has a lower shot count than the talon ss or the condor ss. So if shot count is not a priority then it does not matter.

Can live with that for the time being, looks like larger tanks will fit and possibly retain the full Talon-P performance level?… http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=25738

Ah crap, scope creep, :butkick:
Was set on the Condor SS and ready to send money early next week, got distracted with another option and need your help again… This time Talon-P vs Condor SS. On the surface it seems to be a no-brainer, (to me any how), Talon-P all the way, order LDC along with it, just want to be sure I’m not missing something here.
For giggles took a quick look at the Talon-P, the more I looked the more I like it, especially as a carbine. As a side note I have been setting up to convert my AA S510 to a bullpup, father is also wanting to convert one of his Marauders to BullPup, I have a Bridgeport mill and lathe in my shop, bought a couple tooling bits just for this project, one for carving the air tank trough other for slotting for the trigger group, started carving on few boards on the mill for practice, looking doable thus far… any how, looking into the Talon-P from the standpoint of carbine brings to light that one gun can scratch the AirForce itch and be a BullPup-ish carbine, seeing this pic below of “Bikeboy73’s” Talon-P “Critter Gitter” with MadDog stock, pretty sure I heard angels singing…. 😎
Comes .25″, shoots comparable power to the Condor SS, (or at least close to it), super light weight, compact and packs nicely on long hikes, price of entry along with LDC is comparable to Condor SS alone….. am I missing something?

i added a maddog stock and a hi flow tank to my talon p

I’ve got the Talon Tunes top hat with inserts for my Condor SS…Fuckin’ love it!

Thank you gents for your input, your input has swayed me to the Condor SS in .25″.
Not sure what mods first, list of mods I “think” I want, TT TopHat with inserts, TTTA, TT LDC.

Thanks again guys,
Paul

Braap the ss will push kodiaks to 950 fps easily. I had my ss at 960 fps avg. with kodiaks and had plenty of adjustment left to go faster if i wanted. My accuracy at 960 fps. With kodiaks at 75 yds was .750 and that was with a scope that was not perfectly level and yes i did correct it :biggrinn: I have not shot the kodiaks for accuracy since fixing the scope cant and tuning the gun for kings but i bet it shoots them as good or better since the changes.

The longer bbl. of the Condor will give more shots per charge due to higher efficiency. 😉

Now where we want to be is not hitting a soup can at 100 yards, but hitting that little golden logo in the middle of the cambles soup can at 100 yards! 😉 😆

Knife

Use the TT LDC with the Sound loc,I have a Condor SS in .22 with TT tophat with inserts and the TT LDC.Yes it does increase the length, overall length is 44” on the Condor SS with the TT LDC installed

quote BRAAP:

Based on what we’ve narrowed down thus far regarding the power we know the Condor can easily meet my goal, so can the Condor SS also deliver similarly without having to add heavier hammer and spring? for example .25″ Beemean Kodiaks at 950 FPS, (assuming the gun I get likes them), if so approx shot count per fill vs the Condor with same pellet at same velocity?

Regarding TT LDC for the Condor SS, does it replace the existing Sound-Loc shroud or is it an addition to the shroud increasing the SS’s overall length like it would on the standard Condor?

Power wise I would consider them identical, the SS has alot of extra features though like the trigger and safety and the sound lock system.
