Talon for benchrest
Has anyone competed with an airforce in a benchrest comp? Thinking I may have to put my Air arms mpr to the side for the next comp and give the talon a shot.

I still have it, had it installed last fall for a bit. The “boolits” are stabilized well with the 1 in 12″ twist but I need to have the barrel worked on by my gunsmith. I had trouble seating the boolits well, took more force than I liked, so I decided to fix it. I didn’t do as well as I thought I would, so I need him to fix my “fixin”, which I should have done to start with.
My backstop was 3/4″ plywood in front of concrete blocks. The boolits punched right through the plywood and cratered the blocks, so I had to add a steel layer. They turn into thin splats which have lost at least half their weight. I set gallon jugs of water up and recovered nicely mushroomed boolits either in or just after the second jug. I decided they’re too much for my back yard and most of my shooting venues which involve starlings or pigeons and lots of things I don’t want to make holes in. I’ve toyed with selling it, but haven’t really decided to do that either. The barrel is stored in my closet for now.
No airgun barrel in my collection would stabilize the boolits, twist was just too slow. Once I did get them stabilized, I decided I didn’t need to shoot them anyway.
