Q:

Total Stealth Cricket

I got my new .22 compact tues. fired some crony rounds and was doing 883 with 18.1 JSB’s but it seemed kind of loud to me. My .25 cricket is quieter after basic rear venting. So I made a slip On edgun .30 style shroud and now its total stealth!! Haven’t even made baffles yet!! This is what a sniper PCP needs to sound like. Also received materials for the Matador 1/2 x 20 Ldc adapters. Will be making prototype next week! Have to keep Ernest happy and finish his .22 ST barrel though!
So many projects yet to come!

I have some extra baffles but I did not use them.
It did not seem to matter that much in the 8 cm of extra length.
Right now there are 2 hairpins with some kitchen towl wrapt arround them in it.

This guy (Huub) helped me with the pipe, end cap, baffles, ect.: http://www.xtxair.co.uk/eshop.php#!/~/product/category=2849005&id=32626693
My job was to reduce od and make the M24X0,8.

I think it might be possible to make 1/2 unf inside the end cap,
then you can put on anything you like.
One also can make thread inside the last baffle of the R3 itselfe.
For me it must always be possible to make the R3 original again.
I do not want to make the length any longer then it is now.

Regards, Robert.

Thanks. You reduced the OD on part of it. That’s why it looks like two pieces. I like it only 3.15″ longer. Does it have additional baffles in it to make it quieter?

I like John’s idea too. It takes any LDC with 1/2-20″ thread. But it’s hard to find 3″ LDC.

I saw the pics before.

It is a one piece tube.
It slides over the baffles, replacing the original tube.
The barrel construction remains original.
Most interesting part was making the M24X0,8 inside the tube.
I had a pro cnc lathe worker do it, it is centered 100%.

I did not want to make it longer then 22 cm,
it still fits in my softcase this way.
It ads 8 cm of silence to the lenght of the R3.

Regards, Robert.

Edit:
I’ve shrunk the od of the first 12 cm from 27 to 26mm to give the air tube some space.

Look nice. Is it one whole piece or two?

Eelect, so your fired up, Ernest has offered twice to help with your issue. Lucky you don’t have a BC!

No question that Ernest can fix it. That’s not my point

A shroud that would work for both guns now that would be great. My edgun short definitely needs a shroud. Can’t wait to see the final product.

Sounds like you guys are married and you gotta keep him happy with materialistic (gun parts) things 🙂 So what is this 1/2 x 20 adapter you’re talking about John? I am guessing a screw on shroud extension that will torque the barrel to free float like OEM. With a threaded 1/2 x 20 end for LDC?

Donny, it replace that 6″ tube around the baffles—>with a 6″ screw on tube but at the muzzle end has a 1/2″ 20 female thread so you can screw on any LDC, when not needed it comes with a flush cap thread protector. no need to mess with the torque nut. vary simple and useful.
