Ongoing .25 Cricket info Thread

Just thought I would start a continuous type thread for us quarter-bore cricket shooters, just add any notes, suggestions, findings, tips, groups, strings ect. here so that we can have a compilation of sorts for info. I will kick things off with some pesting I have done with my new cricket: http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=29364

Perrrrrfect!! Leave it.

if its accurate and being my gun. I’d hate to even pick it up in fear something will move!

So for those who are interested I shot another string today, I have not adjusted the reg at all and it seems to be set at about 110-120 ish bar. I have though adjusted the HST to get the gun shooting around 940 fps with kings.

I filled the gun (according to the gauge on my pump) to 210 bar but the guns gauge reads 200 bar exactly so I geuss you could average it out to 205 bar 🙄

I shot 4 mags (48 shots) of kings with probably on average about 10 seconds between shots

here it is:
936,937,938,943,940,943,943,939,941,938,941,937,940,943,940,940,936,941,939,938,940,937,943,940,940,941,940,938,940,941,939,938,944,940,943,938,940,944,938,944,939,939,938,938,938,940,936,935

ES-9 fps
Avg-939 fps
SD-2.3 fps

I was very pleased with this test and plan to leave everything the way it is. What do you guys think??

So if I wanted to decrease the reg’s operating pressure to get more shots at a slightly lower velocity (910 fps) I would turn in the reg screw right? And since I probably only need to drop the operating pressure a hair (about 10 bar) do you think a 1/4 turn would suffice?

1/8 turn is all I’d go if your at 910 already. Yes clockwise turns the regulator pressure down

eelect you getting yours back from AoA already????

Jim told me they are pressure testing it tonight and should ship it tomorrow if there is no leak. So I’m slowly getting excited. Little brother cricket is sure holding its own. It might not even want to give up ANY shooting time. The battle begins. Its very windy lately so I’m looking forward to test them both out to see real who really wins.

A bit less than a quarter turn took my 25 from 980 to 917 or so. I’m getting it back this week so I’m not sure those numbers are hard numbers but it’s close

You could start by lowering regulator pressure if that is the speed you want to go with. When you come off regulator and gun spikes like this you want to lower your regulator pressure. It will give you a better ES as well. You want to set pressure at lowest possible pressure to achieve your fpe. You can’t increase fpe after you do that but its the only way you can get your shot count up and your ES down.
Ernest was selling regulator pressure setters. They are the perfect tool for this. But that sets you back 200 bucks. You can get Ernest to tune the whole gun for less money :butkick:

So from the standpoint of not wanting to buy the tool right now and while I am planning on sending it to Ernest for a tune sometime soon, since I just got it that’s not gonna be for a couple months. I mean one of the big selling points of these guns is the ease of tuning by hand that they provide. So with that in mind is there not some rough guide for adjusting the reg without a gauge? I mean like 1/4 turn=5 bar 1/2 turn=10 bar ect? Thanks

And here is some more technical data, first a shot string. This was done after aprox. 400 kings down the tube and two light barrel cleaning using patches and goo-gone. I adjusted the gun using the HST from the 960 fps it came shooting from AOA down to about 910 fps all using kings.

Starting pressure was a hair over 200 bar and ending pressure was a hair over 100 bar, testing was done using my ever-so-handy Combro mk4. I shot 5, 12 round mags:

MAG 5-at this point pressure was about at 125ish bar and the reg seems to come off duty at 120 bar, so consistency here lessens a bit but for hunting it is still acceptable.

Let me know what you guys think as I am no expert when it comes to regulated guns, cheers
