Q:

Matador stock wood color?

Hey everyone. Can u hear it? The forums are slow, jsb pellets are selling out in less than a week, and rolling blackouts are expected anytime now due to all the shoebox and raptor compressors running wide open. Its spring and lead is flying everywhere. I love this time of year!!!

now onto the question: due to my tiny girl hands, I am thinking about sanding down the back of the pistol grip on my matador stock but need to know if I can get a stain that will match the original edgun color pretty close. If I do this, I’m going to go ahead and round out some of the sharp edges finish the hole thing with a 1200 grip paper or something to help grain “pop” I’m not looking to spot match a little area but I love the deep redish color of the oem finish and want to keep pretty close to stock . I might want to take it just a little bit deeper. Mine is a little lighter in color than the ones had pictures of as my ipad background while saving up for it. I’m no woodworker and I won’t have an issue taking it to a pro if gets to be to much for me but I prefer doing stuff myself when I can.
So, what color stain is the best match for oem or slightly darker/deeper red?

All the holes are bigger on both guns. The 25 just has more.
I did complete write up of my results on the Longs as well as pics.
Opening up front baffle holes to feed rear chamber was beneficial as well.
Donny tried it on his standard but wasn’t ball with results as standard rear chamber is significantly shorter than longs version so less muffling capabilities.
I’m still debating on a few more holes one each with different packing material but as it is now pellet impact is biggest tell to anyone listening. Luckily I’m in Montana now so not an issue.

Demp I’ve got mine at 950 fps also. I see you have your shroud drilled with a double line of holes on one and on the other you have them drilled out to bigger holes . Have you seen any difference in the two, I relies there 2 different calibers. and how much difference did you find is there in a stock shroud compared to a drilled one, I’m debating if I should drill mine out or just leave them as they are. Thanks

When they were both tuned to 885 fps with JSB 18s and JSB 25s the amount of difference in drift at 100yds was so ridiculously small that I wont bother commenting other than to say you are still hitting the quarter. Once I tuned 25 up to 940 fps it became noticeable difference how much better it held line at 100. Thanks on stocks. They are very comfortable.

Hi Demp You sure did a super job on your stocks. I really like the looks of them ,I bet they feel really good in your hand. also how does your 25 long compare side by side in the wind , compared with your 22 cal . I also got a 25 r3m long and I had hoped the wind wouldn’t have as much affect on it.I guess ill have keep shooting it and learn how much holdover it takes.

Thanks. I have the same issue. The barrel end is much lighter than the butt stock area. It shot so dam well today that I’m probably not doing it till winter.

I used ebony stain to darken a bit on my 25 and walnut stain was a good match for my two. 22 stock is a bit more blonde towards front. Best thing I ever did was sand down whole gun and rework grips and trigger area to my liking.
