Q:

Project rifle re-stock on the cheap

I bought another air rifle as a project, a BSA SuperTEN Mk1 in .22 cal. It had a blown regulator and a couple of other small issues that I fixed. It had a decent, but uninspiring Beech stock and I wanted something much better- essentially for free. While I waited for this miracle to occur, I went out to the garage and scrounged around in the piles of weird shit that I’ve packratted over the years.

What more can ya ask for? You have form with the handsome looks, function with the tighter groups and you did it all on the cheap with the braggin rights of doing it yourself!
I love it when things just all fall right into place together like that! Right on!

Thanks, Doug! I did finish it the other day and threw it in the contest, more because I was pleasantly surprised at how well it turned out after I bead-blasted it to remove some scratches. A side benefit is that my groups appear to have tightened up from when it was mounted in the old wooden stock.

DOH!!!! IT IS IN THE PHOTO CONTEST AND THE DEADLINE IS NOT UNTIL 30TH!
Sorry about misinformation, whatta dumbass I can be! 😳

Nice job. Who would think that this came from something as uninspiring as common 2″ tubular. Definately goes to show ya that a little bit of creative thought, skill and tenacity goes a long way!
Too bad, but I think you are just a day too late to enter the photo contest. I woulda given it the nod and cast a vote your way!
I enjoy seeing posts like this!

Balance is excellent, but the weight is about the same as the original rifle- which is pretty heavy. I made the moderator as well and that shifted the center of balance a tiny bit forward, but you can see that she balances well right at that Picatinny rail where she rests on the pellet tins. That scope is HEAVY and that doesn’t help, but it was inexpensive and surprisingly good glass. This rifle would shoot best from a bench/rest and I need to get off my butt and locate a decent bipod for it. Citrus rats and swamp critters beware… :4:

Nice skilz and sweet culmination of pack-ratted wierd shit. How is the weight & balance?
