Night vision optics thoughts. ATN 410 mod

I was just playing with a ATN410 and noticed that the viewing angle was surprisingly small with what appears to be a relatively small image. I pulled my glasses off and stuck my eye directly against the rubber hood and this did improve it considerably. So this got me thinking. I pulled the rubber eyepiece off the scope and stuck my eye right next to the glass and there was huge improvement in viewing angle. Turns out under normal operation you can only see a relatively small amount of the tube. Granted the middle of the tube was by far in the way the sharpest parts but still the rest could be usefully. The rear elements are easy enough to remove from the scope so it got me thinking would it be possible to replace them with one that would make the hole tube visible or potentially the same image as it is now but just larger so it does not look like your trying to look through a pea size hole.
