Condor SS Power Adjustment Backwards
HI Everyone,
I picked up a Condor SS .25 around the first of the year and just sat down to chronograph the adjustable power settings.
I have the gun at about 2600 psi and am using Diabolo Exact King .25 pellets rated at 25.39 gr. With the power adjustment dialed to 12 (max) the velocity reads at about 890 fps for 10 shots. BUT when I dial the adjustment all the way down to 2, the velocity jumps up to 980 for 10 shots.
I tried different pellets and while the velocity changes based on the weight of the pellet, the speed is always higher at the lowest setting (2). I read the manual to see if a lower power adjustment number means more velocity (which would have been dumb) but it shows max power at 12 even though my gun shoots faster at the lowest setting.
The gun is super accurate and seems to operate perfectly otherwise. Any comments would be very much appreciated.

I have been wondering the same sorta thing as my .257 Condor seems to like a setting around “8” on the power wheel no matter the fill pressure. Getting about 900 fps with a 72 gr bullet with the extreme valve and 3000 psi fill.

You are bouncing the valve closed with to much preload. If you want more power you to have to put 3000 in the tank and then preload more. Lower pressure doesn’t need a lot of preload.

Welcome to the TAG.
You may be binding your spring at max preload. Try a mid point on the Power Wheel and see what that does.

I dont own a airforce rifle. BUT i have read enough and watched anough videos to tell you that the sweet spot for most the airforce rifles, just the rifles is about 4 on the power wheel.
pyramyd air did a review on this with a 17 cal and found the same thing shooting across a chrony that the he got more shot count from a setting of 4 then he did on a setting of 6 and had a higher fps while doing so. he speculated that it was because the hammer was making the valve flutter from repeated strikes on too much preload as suggested already.
try replacing the tophat with the talontunes version and doing the oring mod to stop hammer flutter and you will see 2-4 more shots per fill.
also dont worry about filling above 2600psi, take it to 2800 which is where the sweet spot seems to start on these rifles from everything ive seen which may and probably will give you 2-4 more shots just by doing so with the power wheel on 4.
try that and fill us back in with numbers and i will crunch them for you if you arent familliar with doing them up.
if you arent interrested in replacing the tophat, which is super simple i may add. note that the further back that set ring is the less power it will have and the further forward to the hammer it is the more power it will have (maybe thats backwards? cant remember off the top of my head!) and put a nylon washer behind the tophat to stop hammer bounce on the valve as well, these things should help somewhat, all about trial and error to see what your rifle likes the most.
