Q:

Confused with my TT Condor

I got my .25 Condor SS from Tony a couple of months ago. I love the rifle. It’s got all of Tony’s mods and one of his 6″ moderators. Tony’s chrony sheet had the rifle averaging 903 fps with JSB 25.4 exacts. Power wheel was set at 8/2 and a 3100 psi fill. I chronographed it and it was averaging 910 fps with the same JSB’s. I have not changed anything. I have just been shooting it. Today I was checking some different pellets. I chronied the 25.4 JSBs and now it is averaging 880 fps. Air temperature is maybe 5 to 10 degrees warmer then my Iinitial check. I adjusted the PW to 9/0 and got no increase in velocity. I then tried the PW at 10/0 and still no change. So my question is where did I lose 25-30 fps? The TT adjustable top hat has the large restrictor in it. I have not changed that. ? ? Every10 shots uses 200 psi. I’m new to pcps so any help would be appreciated.

Guys thanks for the advice. I’m still not sure what the problem was but the rifle is back shooting in the 900-920 fps range. Maybe my chrony is off.

Possibilities;

1. Spring fatigue, from leaving it compress with the power wheel. or leaving it cocked over night.

2. Top Hat getting gunky, pull, clean and re lube with silicone grease.

3. In side of tube getting dirty. Sometimes the silicone grease makes it’s way into the area where the hammer rides and slows it down. A very common reason for those First Shot Low blues!

4. “O” Rings in breach going bad. Put new ones in and lube first with silicone grease.

These would be good places to start the search for the answer. 😉

there is a oring that goes around the top-hat stem sometimes it gets too sticky from the silicone. You can pull the stem and top-hat out with a couple of screwdrivers, put a dab of silicone on the stem, then put the stem back in and fire the gun to get it to seat all the way in again. You can do this with the tank pressurised, no need to empty.

Not good to leave PW preloaded either.

you didnt happen to leave it cocked overnight or something ,did you?

Maw, the rifle uses 200 psi per 10 shots. My question is why have I lost an average 30 fps on my first shot string starting with a 3100 psi fill.

As the pressure of the tank drops off so does the speed of the pellet, unless your filling it up everytime.

Wow! ! No replies. It must really be confusing. ? ? LOL!! Something else that I have thought about is I haven’t seen a change in the POI? Makes me wonder if my Shooting Chrony has gone bad. Oh well it will get figured out, one way or another.
