Q:

Finally made it

Guys I finally made it dropping a starling at greater or equal to 100 yards. 103 yards dead center mass. Its the furthest yet although I have got one a 89 yards couple days ago. Its always so windy or gusty its very difficult to find a calm. I took two at 75 and a bunch at 62 the other day but was on and off windy. Today it landed on a steel fence post and I took a long hard look at it and though what the heck. I swung gun around on bipod and allowed one mil hold over for the slight breeze and 3 mil high and let her fly. Took a while to get there but it indeed do what it was supposed to do. Best part it was gawking me from the trees but couldn’t see it till it got out of there and landed what he thought was a safe distance.
So there you have it first 100 plus yard kill with cricket for me. I had a bunch with Rainstorm II last year but its a first with cricket.

Made a make shift prop for bipod. Would never let it rest on car. I’m going to make a shelf in there to rest pod on so it’s more comfortable and I can hide further inside the car

I use one of these rests. Solid and has a variety of configurations. Perfect for hanging on the car window of your hide. Also great for window sills at home and fence posts.

Love the old car sniper setup…careful you don’t scratch the air tube on the metal window frame.

Chairgun can be off somewhat at times but some of the other variables might be affecting it if incorrect like bore to scope distance, etc. The last time I tested it with my Air Ranger (a year or so ago) it was within about 5/8″ vertically at 100 yards as predicted. I was surprised how close it was. Of course the BCs vary by gun, velocity, etc. so there is always some variability there. If it is off by 3-4″ or more at 100 yards something is really out of whack.

Nice blind you got

For some reason Chair gun in not accurate with my 25 cal. 13 power 1.5 mildot is 90 yards. I have to fudge my velocity to make it match. Either my chrony is wrong or chair gun is wacked. Half mildot gives me 75 yards at 50 yard zero.
I dropped a starlīng at 92 yards using 1.5 mils and I dropped it on the spot. That is the record for me with this gun. Scored one over a hundred with 22 cricket.
I got 30 of them today with wind between 15-20 mph. I had to relocate to an old abandoned car and set up shop there. Wind was 45degrees from there. Was pretty successful considering the gusts of wind. Shots were between 38-50 yards

I have finally nailed down the actual real world mils for my holdovers so it can start to happen more often. It does 1″ target at 72 yards 5 out of 5 times. Its amazing. I just make sure barrel is clean.

Good point. I always wonder how much should I reply on the chairgun chart, and planning to go one day to the range and measure my own experimental one. I hope they will be close as projectile computations are accurate if the kinetic coefficient was done correctly.

Awny

It’s gotta be a clean barrel IMO.
I can do some crazy long distance shooting with a clean barrel
When it’s not clean it can be really frustrating…

eelect, another great shot! I have a dead tree across the pond at 87 yards and have taken a FEW at that distance. BUT 100+ yards….congrats.

Eelect,
This is very impressive especially for such small size target. I have not even got a chance yet to shoot at any game/pest further than 50 yards, but hoping to change that soon.
Awny

Wow that’s very impressive for 177 although I have made quite a few 70 yarders with my RS 177. Taking a major back seat to 22 cricket now. I have a dead tree on an abandoned farm that I park and watch. It had huge pile of dead birds under it. All at 80 yards. Its a different ball game when you have random targets pop up at million different wind directions and wind speeds.

There is nothing like puffing a pest bird at distance – except maybe PDoggin’. I have a dead tree at 105 yards that they love. I don’t have much wind in my valley though most of the time. With the Compact Cricket .177 I have nailed one at about 80 yards but that is my current record with it.
