Q:

Cleaning Barrels

I have a Condor 22. with 18 inch barrel. How often are you cleaning the barrel. My gun is new. I have approximately 250 rounds through it. It may be my imagination but I think I am losing a little accuracy.

Pyramydair has great customer service. I am sending my Airforce scope back to Pyramyd. My new Hawke sidewinder will be delivered today. Then for some serious accuracy shooting. I want to build some charts showing tank pressure, fps with the chronograph and accuracy off bags at 25 yards with several different pellets. I can do this in my backyard. Then to the range for the longer shot accuracy. It will be interesting to see how close reality is to the Hawke Chairgun Pro program. I think I have learned that I do not have to fill the tank up to 3000psi to get the best accuracy. Faster speed does not = better accuracy.

Last April marks one year I’ve had my .22 Condor SS. I’ve ran thousands of pellets through it. I cleaned the barrel one time some months ago. I’ve not noticed a loss of accuracy. Most shooting is done at 70-100 yards. Done a little at 130yds. With good results. Now I’m wondering if I SHOULD clean the barrel more often. 😕 I’ve not had any inaccuracies that could not be attributed to shooter error, i.e. parallax, inconsistant hold, ect. The Maddog stock with a shim of leather or rubber under the tank( Knifemaker’s idea) has helped the most with accuracy/consistancy.

Glad it worked for you Condor! It really improved my day to day accuracy. Especially in differing positions! 😉

The link is a Good One! Many of us, and the Bench rest crowd as well, do a good finishing polish with Flitz Metal Polish. It really gives a nice smooth finish!

I have been thinking about my rifle. I shoot a lot of centerfires with great results. I am thinking that the cheap Airforce scope is not holding. I adjusted one of the turrets and there were no clicks just smooth rotation.

I am thinking of calling Pyramydair tomorrow and see about retuning the scope and getting a Hawke. s

Powderburner…thanks for the link. That answered all of my questions.

Eelect: thanks for your imput. Will be cleaning mine pretty soon.

I try to clean my crickets every 250 shots. It is very important if you want good accuracy
