Q:

Filling .22 Cricket with air

I am having a bit of trouble filling my Cricket. It takes a very long time compared to other PCP’s i’ve owned. Is there a restrictor in the fill probe? can it be adjusted or removed? Love the gun so far, but it sure is slow on refill.
Thanks, TerrySS

I followed your instructions to a T and the H-oil based lube did wonders ! I was able to reduce the stroke frequency downto 212-213 strokes/min. My right wrist thanks you as does my Wife. You´re a Godsend !
The only downside to the Fish Oil is those damned neighborhood Cats now follow me wherever i go. That bugs my Dogs.

Yep! Low stamina those Swedes … Thankfully i´m Finnish so i take my time to get finished . 😆

That reminds me…Ville, did your right wrist get any better after we talked???

Did you start lubing up “Little Ville” with Herring oil like I suggested, and reduce your repetitions to under 220 jerks per minute?

You know you can do this when you are getting it on with your wife as well. Hell man…they all smell like fish anyway…where’s the harm?

I kept wondering how sex entered into this thread….then I realized we were talking about “screwing” a Cricket…as strange as that sounds.

PS: File the damn thing and be done with it!

I agree Swedish man have low stamina so I’ve heard  I also agree that it shouldn’t take that long to fill the Cricket. It doesn’t fill as fast as my Edgun but 30 secs sounds about right. Are you sure your gun doesn’t have hemorrhoids?

Five minutes ? It shouldn´t take that long – far from it. Five minutes is as long as an average sex act according to an American study (probably done in Arkansas) so something´s not right. It fills slower than your usual PCP but all my Crickets are filled in about 30 seconds from 110-210. That´s about as long as an average sex act takes according a Swedish study. :suprisedn:

It takes 5 minutes to fill from 110 to 220 bar. That is way to slow. Looking for a better solution, besides taking a dremel to the small screw. Terry

Sell it and consider an Edgun.

The Cricket is a slow filler, by design, and unless you are willing to physically risk cutting the hardware, then it’s going to fill slowly. There are no other options. It’s like an unlicensed Chicago dance club. There’s only one door and it’s hard to get in.

If you absolutely must cut the threads, I suggest you buy a package of assorted “needle” files, and use either the flat sided, or triangle sided file so you can control the cut. It wouldn’t hurt to have a replacement screw handy. The ancient Romans said it best: “!Humanus attero Venio

This is not my first or only PCP. It is by far the slowest filling PCP. It takes 5 minutes to fill from 110 to 220 bar. That is way to slow.

i always think slowly filling the gun is better. i cant stand the drop at the end and it saves your seals. its not like you have to fill it up every 5 shots.

However….when you fill fast you get a “hot” fill and the psi will drop as the air cools.

You’d be better advised to keep your dick-skinners off that tiny screw!

Just a thought.

Hoot:

To clarify: you can make a small cut along the length of the screw, against the threads. This will make the air fill faster. Keep most of the threads intact or you will have problems.

Yup there is a resistor in the end cap that makes it fill slowly. When you have let all the air out of tube screw off end and you will see a small screw. With an oring around it. Observe how tight it was before you remove it. When you have screw in your had take a dremmel and lightly file away some of the tread on the bolt. Go very slow and not too much
