Q:

2240 questions

Hi all,
I am about to start a new project gun that I want to custom build. I have a few requirements, and was wondering if you guys with xx40 could give me a hand on what to get and way not to get. Here is what I want on the gun-
A hipack, guessing the longer the better?
24″ barrel
Metal breech
A stock
I was aso wondering about .177, .22, and maybe .25. What velocities are you getting with your guns and what caliber would you recommend. Also product recommendations would help lots.
Thanks.

Bryan and Associates carries a steel big bore breech and 18″ .25 barrel for the 22XX series.

The steel breech will have to be modified if you use the .25 barrel. All marauder barrels are choked. I’ve also read that some marauder .22 had messed up rifling at the muzzle end on some early models. The .177, .25 were fine no problems reported. The guy that came up with the hipac doesn’t recommend using a boss valve cause of the thinner wall modification. Lol apparently I didn’t read this till after buying a boss valve and installing it on my gun. I have the 2240 hipac with 1 extension. I’m also using a performance p rod hammer spring. I also added another screw to my boss valve. It’s only recommended if you plan on filling to 3k psi. I don’t recommend filling it to 3k, I have and encountered serious valve lock. After fixing the valve lock I now only fill it to 2k that gives me 16 good shots out of my 2540.

If you do a 2250b/2400KT, an 18″ barrel is needed to run a hipac with one air tube extension, if you plan on using a TKO muffler.

I recently bought a 2240 and then traded some stuff for a 14″ barrel, steel breach, boss valve and power adjuster. I chronied it stock and with CP it was hitting 420 -425 regularly. After putting everything but the valve in i was hitting 515 – 520 regularly. For some reason the power adjuster with its new spring would not give me as much velocity as the original HS setup with no power adjustment. I put the original spring and cap back on. I am not going to use the hot valve in this gun with a 14″ barrel because it will just waste CO2 and will instead try it in an 18″ or 24″ custom shop gun when i buy it. So for my experience i would skip the power adjuster and go with whatever barrel length suits you.
