Long wait is over… Got my Condor..!!
Hi Toni,
This is G, how are you..?
I just want let you know that I got the new Condor Friday. I’ve been working on two of my AG, so I was waiting to finish them to go to the range. I put the scope of my Mrod on the Condor to test her out.
I shot about 100 pellets, JSB 25 (not from the sample you sent me) and some Barracuda extreme that I had in my bag.
I started with 3000 psi, and I could shoot about 32 pellets, before the numbers start to go down. Velocity was a bit slower than what you got in your test ( you got AV 985, do you think that head diameter being different would do this..?). My AV was about 960, SD was about 8, with one or two pellets raising the ES, but overall very consistent around 960. After 32 shots the pressure got down to 2300-2400, hard to tell precisely with that small gauge and these old eyes… And velocity started to go down to 940, dropping the POI about 0.5 inch at 50 m.
It took me about 120 strokes on my Hill Pump to bring her back to 3000. Not to bad, my S510 and Mrod take about 75- 85 strokes,,, I have scuba tanks.
My first impression was very positive, I like her. I didn’t shoot without the shroud, I’ll in the future just to compare. But with the shroud, very quite, all I can hear is the 95 gr hammer slamming.
I kind of like heavier guns, but I was surprised how comfortable she was, I guess the drop adapter helps. I heard some people complaining about cheek rest, and the fitting on their shoulders. But she felt all right on my shoulder. The part that I struggled the most was the grip and trigger pull. The thin handle grip doesn’t allow me to use the finger pad, the natural grip kind of forces me to use the knuckle instead. I was trying different grips, different finger positions. I have to figure out what would work the best for me. The first stage is very nice, and after hitting the predictable wall of the second stage, it take some effort to break. I was expecting that based on other people comments. It’s not bad, but certainly could be better. I’m pretty sure that this is what was making me jerk the trigger on the accuracy test.
This was just my first time shooting, I had a front sand bag for support, and just my other hand under the grip to support the back. It’s not really impressive for the standards here on the forum, but remember, this was just a quick first impression shooting… so don’t be hard on me…
To be honest Toni, I was thinking about put her for sale right way. If you remember, I told you that I really would like to have her eventually set up for slugs. I don’t know when I’ll be able to do that. But I like her, so I think I’ll keep her round…
I know you are a busy man Toni, but I’ll appreciate if you could spend some time in the future over the phone with me. I’d like to try some heavier pellets, and I guess for that, would be better to replace top hat insert, and do some top hat adjustment. But, if I do, I want be sure I know how to get her back to this set to shoot the JSB.
I never shot an Original Condor to compare to… But, this one is definitely a good shooter.
Thanks Toni.
G.

By the way, the shots on the head area were @ 50 m and the ones on the reactive target were @ 75m.
