Q:

What is the best setting of valve spring?

I´m curious how many turns of valve stem did you set after spring contact or what is preferable ?
I have 1/4 turns after contact of spring. I´m thinking to make more turns 2 like Ernest advice ???

You need the stainless one on the left. The metal HSTA with the spring guide gives the spring more preload and extra strength. PM me and I’ll send you 2 length to play with

Ernest,

I received my new .177 compact from WWAG yesterday. When I installed the WWAG HST adjuster it was too much hammer preload and the velocity was just maxed out with no adjustment. Where can I get a lighter HST spring?

Note 2 turn is only a safe reference. Mostly it all depend on the speed you want it set, if you want higher speed lighter setting, tighter if you want to reduce the speed. have notice there is no major difference in extreme spread. But I do change the stock spring to a lighter one on all my tunes that require less hammer spring tention that will reduce the vibration in the breech. The valve spring on the left is the lighter spring and beside it is a med strength not stock, the middle hammer spring is the one I used for all tunes, the stock spring on the right is an overkill to use only on high FPE mods and only minor adjustment to lower the fps. The lighter valve spring I can tighten the spring retainer all the way and jam it down so it won’t back out over time.

If you like to adjust your speed in a wider range 600 to 800+ fps the stainless hammer spring on the left.
