Q:

Quieting the Matador even more

Awhile back there was a thread about a mod to quiet the report of a matador. You had to remove the barrel shroud and drill some holes into the shroud. I think you could put some holes into the barrel nut also to help make things even quieter. Does anybody have the link to that thread by any chance. I want to remove my barrel shroud and that link had details about how to do it (I think).

Or does any body have tips on how to remove the barrel shroud? When I try to unscrew the barrel nut I just end up spinning the whole barrel. Does the barrel nut have an opposite direction thread on it by chance? Youtube video links would be helpful if anybody can direct me to one.

Many Thanks!

Here’s the original thread on modding the shroud and baffle nut holes that Hoot was following up on with his thread.
I posted detailed info and pics. Works very well for the longs.

Found it for you, although Hoot: may have lost the pictures in the posts

As SECoda mentions, it may be worth trying one of Donny’s ‘slip ons’ rather than embarking on a ‘fuxing’ quest. You can’t un-drill holes ! 😯

Do you really want to drill and crank on your $2000 Edgun? Donny’s slip-on shroud condoms not only make more sense – they are more effective noise wise and cost wise. The best part is they can come off easily and no harm has been done when you go to sell it. He is working on Edgun ones now.

Donny is working on a slip on for the Matador? Well that is good news. Donny, can you give us an update on your progress? If you are running into problems perhaps the brain trust of this forum can help. Good luck.
