Attach Point for Bipod?
Hi,
New to the forum and to the AF AG.
Recently purchased a .25 Condor SS. Killer gun! Anyway, I am definitely not used to holding it and my groups are really good at times and not so good at others. One thing I notice is my problem with cant and swivel off the bag. I’m thinking a bipod might help to negate those problems. Caldwell and UTG have ones that look pretty good. But my long-winded question is:
Do you buy a dovetail style bipod to mount directly to the rail under the shroud or do you get a picitiny adapter and then a bipod for that. I’m just really new at this and am not sure what avenue to pursue. Sorry for such a basic Q but I tried searching the site and looked through the quick Refs and came up with surprisingly little.

When in doubt, always check Amazon.com. You’d be surprised what you could find there.
Amazon has UTG 11mm to Weaver/Pic . A set of 2is $9 and some change. They are very reliable. I have them mounting my UTG 30mm scope with weaver rings to my Talon-Dor. Will you be using this gun for hunting? Keep in mind that you will be adding considerable weight to the gun with a bi-pod! Not a big deal for most people but I’m a skinny little guy and weight is always an issue with my hunting guns.
Just to get this straight….if i go with the rail mount and say the UTG….I’d need to get the AF 11mm to picatinny adapter then mount the bipod to that…yes? Any better option. The AF seems a bit high but I don’t see any other 11mm to Pic. adaptors out there.
Sounds like a good idea to wait before drilling holes ALTHOUGH I seriously doubt you’ll return the gun. The more you shoot it, the more you’re going to love it! Just wait till you really start tinkering with it. Welcome to your “new addiction” L.O.L.
Thanks for the quick responses. I’m going to wait until the 30-day return is up before drilling holes. Never know if I’ll discover a flaw…but after that……
I’ll check out the AF bipod/ photos as well.

Here is a pic of how mine turned out.
I just drilled a small hole in the forearm grip and screwed a sling stud in with super glue on it and it works great.I have a Blackhawk 6″-9″ bipod I got from WW.
There are many ways you could go about mounting a bi-pod to your Condor. Both Caldwell and UTG are excellent products but will require you either installing a swivel stud or using a weaver adapter. You may want to look at the bi-pod that Air Force makes. It’s fairly compact and very light weight. Many people don’t like the AF unit because it swivels and kind of “flops” around buy there is a very easy fix for that problem. Just remove the Allen bolt that holds the dovetail mount to the leg assy and install a split lock washer between the two and crank it down tight. I only shoot off a bi-pod when target shooting or a shooting stick when hunting because I’m pretty crappy at off hand shooting. I’ve been using the AF pod for several years after modifying if without fail.
See pictures in the Talon/Talon SS section, new member wanting to show off his baby. You will notice that in the pictures, I have my bi-pod flipped over and mounted on the top dovetail rail. This is so I could leave it on the gun permanently and still hunt with my shooting stick. To do this requires further (yet simple) modification.

Actually i do more target shooting than hunting but do hunt from time to time….mainly a to keep the squirrels in check around the garden. i notice that on a bag it is more difficult to control swing from side to side with the Condor than with a more conventional rifle. I figured that a bipod on a table top would be more steady. Am I wrong? Is there a better way to go? I don’t really want the extra weight but I guess that comes with a steadier shot. Thanks for the info about the 11mm UTG…will look into that.
