Matador Shroud Mod Instructions
If you’ve been following the Cricket shroud mod, the Matador’s is very similar with just a few differences. When you get the shroud mod, I find it easier to unscrew the baffle cover a little then put blue painter’s tape on.
As you’re going, take the shroud mod and place it over the baffle cover to check on the fit. Again, you don’t want it to be too tight where it’ll pull the tape. Just enough so that it slides on.
Since the Matador’s shroud is tightened with the nut from the baffle. We don’t want to take off the shroud. So what you want to do is cut a piece of blue tape about 2 inches long and do a half moon like cover for the rear shroud. Basically this will be where the set screw touches. I myself cut 3 pieces of 2 inch blue tape and stacked them on top of each other. I tape them one by one onto the shroud.
Next slide the shroud mod over the OEM shroud, make sure the cut underneath is centered than using a 3/32 Allen key, tighten the set screw. You do not need to over tighten this screw. When you feel contact, stop.
Next do a slight tug test, to see if the shroud is secure, if it moves, tighten a little bit more and tug again.
I’ve got the length down so that it only extends 4 inches from OEM.

No reports of POI yet but I wouldn’t be surprise if someone had to adjust down a bit. Similar to the Cricket mod, many people reported no POI but there were a few who had to adjust slightly. Not the “where the hell did my shot go” adjustment lol.
Looks great. Does the shroud had any affect on POI?
Great job!. It’s baffling. 😆 My .25 R3 is pretty loud. Much louder than my R3 .30 cal with the large muffler.

There was not a POI shift on either of my Crickets with Donny shrouds. I picked off a marauding raccoon this evening with the .22 Cricket w/Donny shroud that was somewhat brave and came out just before dark and set off the trash cans sensor. He was only about twenty yards away but impact was between the eyes. He did a did a flip and was out in less than fifteen seconds. Normally, I use the R3 30 cal but the .22 was handy.
