Q:

Lasers, red vs green?

I’m thinking about installing a laser. From what I understand, green is more visible during daylight hours. I plan on zeroing it at 25 yards as my scope is dialed in at 50 and closer distance shots require holdover to compensate for the height of the scope when mounted on the Air Force platform rifles.
I’m looking at a Barska GLX due to its small size and the fact that it can be activated by momentary switches on either side of the unit without the use of a coil cord and pressure pad. I will mount it directly in front of my fore grip on the LOWER dovetail with a UTG adapter. This way, I could activate either of the switches while shouldering the gun.
Two questions;
1. Green vs red for both day AND night shooting at short range?
2. Does anyone have any experience with this Barska unit?
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Wildfire

So what do you use those wicked lasers for other than getting in trouble with the law? Those are some mighty expensive pointers.

sorry was trying to send below message on my phone…. or rather above. i have the micron lazer they have discontinued in orange, was a limited edition run. its a design pattern lazer and was meant to be used with those patterns lenses.

i have had a frozen on order in purple but the frozen is a pre order lazer. the purple is UV emitting and can be used for a lot of things and used with a diffuser lense can bu used with my UV camera settings.

my next purchase will most likely be a crypton. puts out enough heat to start fires in a pinch but that why my first purchaese from them was the torch light because its a EDC tool i HAD TO HAVE, im sure you know how that goes.

lazers are just cool to be honest. if your gonna own one why not own the best?

Just about ANY laser you can buy is either 3mw or 5mw..even the crummy laser pointers the local gas stations sell for 5 bucks.

Wicked lasers is a place I have heard of..

I prefer green over red..maybe its just because I’m getting old..but I can see the green better.

Just get a laser that is easy to adjust the UP,Down,Left, and Right. Those little set screws are a PITA to work with. Some lasers even have turrets just like a scope..get one of them.

Yes you can use a laser to RANGE FIND to a fair degree of accuracy

Thanks for the information. I’ll check into the one you recommend. I guess the reason that I liked the other one was because of the side mounted switches. I’m trying to avoid the coiled cord and pressure pad.
I have to admit, I don’t really need a laser on my rig. I just like having all of “the toys”.

i dont have any first hand experience with the barska lazers but have built my own out of housings and lazers from cd drives including blu-ray lazers.

my question is why use a lazer? there is a better way of shooting inside of 50Y without the use of extra equipment, that way is to sight in at the top of your shots arch at a 50Y sight in, usually between 30-40Y

if you required a lazer this is my suggestion to you for a purchase

its 5mw, its the only one they list the power output of which is good, the lazer means nothing unless you know what its putting out and from my quick digging its the only unit they list the Mw of the lazer so this is my suggestion to you.

keep in mind you may not be able to see that green dot in broad daylight even through a scope but it will shine in dawn conditions ESPECIALLY in fog since green isnt easily distorted like red lazers are since they are on a different wavelength.

im a little spoiled when it comes to lazers and flashlights though. had many a wickedlaser in my time here on this planet. my favorite products ever are lazers.
check these out and see what i mean by im a little spoiled

but yeah, my vote goes to that unit i linked above from barska at 5mw
