PLEASE HELP: AirForce refill adapter
Hello,
I just received a refurbished TalonSS from Pyramyd Air. I also got the AirForce refill adapter.
The tank is a quick detach (not spin-loc)
While the tank fits perfectly in the gun, I cannot screw the adapter to the tank.
It screws in maybe 1/2 to 1 thread the in stops.
Please help. Are there different types of adapters/threads?
What is the issue here? I just cannot figure it out.
Thank you in advance
Cheers
Chris

Good to know it wasn’t something serious. Enjoy!
So I received a replacement from Pyramyd Air (great service by the way).
The new one fits perfectly as expected so i am very happy that it wasn’t the tank thread.
The other one did not show any visible/discernible problem on the thread. I guess it was just a bad batch.
Now I can refill the tank and start shooting this thing 🙂
Thank you all for the inputs and helps.
Cheers
Chris
Please fill us in with the results.
Thank you for the info.
I got the gun from Pyramyd Air, I decided to contact AirForce direcly and they are also thinking the adapter is the culprit.
The customer service at Pyramyd Air is going to send me a replacement right away.
I hope it works….

I bought the air force pump and it came with an adapter just like that. My gun has a spin loc tank, but I did use the adapter to vent my tank once when I made mods to it. Both are very new and latest revisions and mine fit together just fine. The threads on the adapter were tighter than the thread on the spin lok castle nut on the gun, but it wasn’t really difficult to screw on. I’m thinking you may have an adapter with a damaged thread. if it’s new, I’d contact the seller (or air force direct) and ask for a replacement. Air Force has a great reputation for customer service. I’d bet a call to them would get one sent right out to you.
Hi, I have the same adapter which I use with my scuba tank and always fits perfect with the tank/valve. I think the problem is the adapter not the tank. Return it and get a new one. Hope it helps.
Does that mean I have to force it in?
The new type fill adapters are a tighter fitting thread then the old ones. I had to go over 50 of the valves I had made with a adjustable die until I had them fitting those fill adapters.
I just looked through my owners manual and they do not mention how to fill with hand pump. Sorry! Wish I was able to help you out.
Hi,
I bet you the threads on the adapter must be out of line, you might have to ask for a replacement or might have to send the bottle in with the adapter.
Hi Chris;
Like I said, I have never used a hand pump. That is why your adapter looked so “weird” to me. There are many members here on the forum who, I’m sure, will be able to help you get this sorted out. I wish I had an answer for you NOW so you could get shooting. As far as I know, the threads are all the same. Were there any instructions that came with the fill adapter? Looking at your pictures, it almost looks like the top hat on the bottle may be bottoming out in the adapter.
It would make sense to me that if you are filling with a pump. That MAYBE the valve needs to be held open while pumping. Do the instructions say anything about installing the adapter on the pump hose FIRST and then screwing on the bottle ( possibly enough to depress the top hat ) and then starting to pump ???????? Let me know what you find out! Now I’m curious!

Hi,
I am using a hand pump. That is the right adapter. It just does not want to screw in. I assume the tank thread is ok because it fits on the rifle nicely.
I took few shots cause there was some air pressure in the tank and everything seems to work fine.
If I just could refill it….
I hope somebody has some hints on this. It is indeed kinda weird…
I just want to make sure that there aren’t different thread versions of the tank. In fact it feel like whenyou are trying to screw a nut on a bolt that looks right but it’s not the right thread.
Cheers

Im not familiar with that adapter! are you filling with c02 or air from a scuba set-up? Maybe that is the adapter that is used with a hand pump. I have never used a hand pump so Im not sure. hopefully some other members will chine in with some helpful information for you. We need to get you “up and running” so you can enjoy your new gun.
This is the set-up I was using to fill mine before I got the spin lock bottle.
