Q:

.257 Slugs vs. Airforce baffles

Has anyone tried using the stock baffles with a .257 barrel shooting slugs? Planning to shoot cast slugs from an 18″ .257 barrel, and since the sound-loc system is designed for all 3 larger calibers I’m thinking the tolerance on the baffles would be such that a slug cast from a .260 mold would still pass cleanly through without modification. What do you think?

Thanks,
TB

Nice- pictures, or it didn’t happen!! The .257 will vary in dia. depending on how you size them. I’m sure there’s topics in the “Shrouds and Moderators” section about how big a shroud hole should be in relation to the caliber. I would check there too, while you’re waiting!

I will definitely be checking the clearance before I try this, but considering the small difference in diameter between .25 pellets and .257 slugs I doubt the baffles are produced to such exacting standards (if so any damaged .25 pellet would end up clipping the baffles as well).

Will keep my fingers crossed, barrel should be here in a few weeks.

Honestly, I would double check, and still bore the baffle out a bit. Clipping sucks, I couldn’t imagine clipping w/a .257!!
