Disassembling the Condor SS
I have a Condor SS (.22) and a TalonP. I have a .25 caliber barrel (18″, 12mm) coming for my Condor SS. Had the guns about a week now. Time to start taking them apart. 😀
But before I do, I’d like to know if there are any surprises I might run into, not having done this before. I’m pretty good at taking things apart and putting them back together. In fact, I’m so good, I usually have parts left over. 🙂 Seriously though, are there any gotchas that I should look out for. You know… springs that go flying or parts that can’t be reassembled, once removed.
Probably all I will do initially is to swap the .22 barrel for he 18″ (12mm) .25 barrel, just to test it. BTW, is there anything else that needs to be changed, when swapping barrels. I’ve been led to believe the answer is “no”.

I got mine back a few weeks ago. Shoots well, and apparently they had to replace all the internals in the valve. For what I shoot (mostly hunting and plinking) I can’t notice a difference between the heavy barrel and the average barrel. If you are shooting bench rest or long range I believe you will see a difference.
That’s interesting, I will be waiting for your post when you get your gun back from Air Force…..so looks like LW heavy barrels doesn’t have any additional advantage over new 12 mm LW barrels…
I have the opposite set up as you. I bought my gun from AoA with the stock .25 barrel, and bought the heavy .22 barrel several months later. I shoot out to 110 yards with the .25 barrel and 45(?) gr eunjin pellets. I have shot the .22 out to about 50, but something went bad with my valve when I changed the barrels, so I had to send it back to airforce. I am yet to try the .22 out past 50, but I expect the same accuracy. My gun is an ss, so the barrels are both 18″.
Any one has any comparison in terms of accuracy , between stock .25 Cal , 18 inch heavy barrel(16 mm) vs 12 mm ,25 Cal 18 inch condor SS stock barrel.

Just got a .25, 18 inch barrel and was rather surprised to see OD of 12 mm…. I hope it perform as good as 16 mm OD standard condor heavy barrel..
I called AirForce and ordered directly from them. They said 12mm is what comes in the .25 caliber SS and that’s what I needed to order for my Condor SS .22, if I want to swap to .25 caliber. Got the 12mm barrel but haven’t taken the Condor SS apart yet or tried to install it. It could be that the standard Condor is 16mm.
I am just curious that is condor SS in .25 is coming with 12 mm diameter? (I thought all 18 inch air force barrels are 16 mm OD ) :sadn:
Changing out the barrel is a pretty simple operation but there are a few things you should know.
1. Be very careful with the little screw in the power wheel collar, it’s plastic and strips easily!

hmmm… I removed the barrel, to install my R.L. Shroud. I watched their video first. I didn’t see anything in the video about fiddling with that screw. I better watch it again.
To remove the barrel, are you supposed to do anything with that screw? All I did was turn down the power setting to lowest and then removed the barrel.
try some Benji pellets too.
My 18″ .25 caliber barrel arrived today. I was also going to get a 24″ barrel but I think I’ll just buy another Condor with 24″ barrel.
Mike, I’m a Noob at this PCP airgun stuff too, and I just ordered a .25 18″ barrel for my Condor SS today along with an assortment of pellets… These things are WORSE than AR’s! the customization is endless and oh so fun to shoot!
If you look at the top of this forum, you’ll see some PANDEMIC videos that you should watch on disassembly/reassembly of the condors and talons. they are VERY helpful. First thing I did after watching them was to go to Talon Tunes and buy all the neat little gadget upgrades… Top Hat, hammer with slap mod., tank adapter, etc. After doing installs on those, I was an “expert” on the condor… Oh yea, read the How To Decock a Condor thread and do that too!

Welcome to the forum;
Changing out the barrel is a pretty simple operation but there are a few things you should know.
1. Be very careful with the little screw in the power wheel collar, it’s plastic and strips easily!
2. There are 4 grub screws that hold the barrel assembly into the frame. Two are long and two are short. When re-assembling, the longer screws go in through the bottom of the frame.
3. Tighten these screws evenly when re-assembling.
4. Don’t over tighten the screw that holds the fore grip to the frame or it will interfere with the power wheel function.
5. As long as you are replacing the barrel, it makes sense to polish the breech end of the barrel. I’m sure there is more you need to know but I’ve only had one cup of coffee so far this morning. I’ll think of more and let you know!

I have a .22 heavy, 1″-1.25″ groups at 75 yards, oh yea… It’s 24″…lol
