Q:

Cricket 22 / marauder 25, Cricket 25 shots #

I really like the pow of the 25 Marauder but I find myself picking up the 22 Cricket 99% of the time to takeout the varmint sparrows at 38 yards.
I am thinking if I had a 25 Cricket would I go to it 50 % of the time? I really like my Marauder but its huge and I only get 16 shoots per fill .
Are you 25 Cricket shooters really getting 45 shots per fill????????? That’s the BIG selling point,,,,,
So come on tell me the truth at or around 900 FPS how many shots are you getting per fill?
Since I went to PCP guns all my springer’s are just sitting there. Its just almost unreal how accurate the PCP guns are…
Tell me the truth I can take it…

May have to get some grain and put it out in the area you want the pest in,,,
Oh yea a big Thank you to you and a few other people that talked me out of the P12…
Its like the people that talked me out of a 22 Marauder, I got a 25 and it is deadly ,
Now I got a 25 Cricket coming because I LISTENED to the all knowing people on this list,
With reports of 45 to 60 shots at 950 FPS,,
I am just about as slow as they get , But I plan to do a write up between the 22 and the 25 Cricket just for kicks…
And any one that says the 25 is a over kill for sparrows is not from Texas,
I used to parrie dog hunt with a 300 H&H mag..
Younger days , and cheap bullets a life time ago..
Mike

Mike another wise choice. Aren’t you glad you didn’t go with the P-12??? I just got back from the cattle barn, not much going on over there, bird wise that is. I must have shot them all…………………..

My 25 was tuned by Ernest. I’m at 127 with 48 shots leaving 110 bars. Very happy with gun.

Yes 890fps is good choice 14 shots – 20bars 😛

If I get 950 FPS and close to 60 shots with my Cricket 25 , I will be overjoyed , Happy as a lark, And will have to double check my shot count…
I will just about send Flowers to Earnest on Valentine’s day, I said just about, OK. :smilen: I will send a Birthday card. 😀 😀 😀
The gun is on its way to Earnest now thanks to good guy on the list.
I know I filled my 22 cricket to 270 Bar by accident , I did not count the clips but I shot sparrows for two days and never filled up,,,
A lot of shots,,, Next time I will count, My 22 is tuned from 215 bar to 120 bar at 890 FPS 😀 😀 😀
Mike

LOL you guys, For the 25 shooters you know what a sparrow looks like when shot, A little feather explosion , With the 22 he just falls over, :winkn: :winkn:
Since November 2013 I have taken out over 4000, That’s four thousand sparrows, Most with the 25 Marauder since I have had it a lot longer,
The Cricket 22 is catching up fast… My bird feeders are kept full all the time…
Go to the feed store and buy you a 50lb bag of Chicken scratch about 13 dollars Lots cheaper than the regular wild bird feed and works better for the sparrows…
Mike

Also wondering if you tried the polymags or crow magnum? If they shoot straight you might get a similar reaction as the .25. If not then move the feeder in to 25 yards… Idk

If I were you I’d buy the cricket .25 just in case the sparrows catch on and don’t come in closer than 100yrds.

You could buy a ninja 90 that is regulated and connect that to the mrod and shoot for days… Only $300 🙂

I wouldn’t suggest the .25 for sparrows, way way over kill power because it’s a real BFH. I’d say use the .22 Std. you have or buy a .177 compact if you want another Cricket for sparrows.

Ride does make a good point..
When I first picked up my 25 Cricket I though wow this is bigger than I thought. Its not to heavy, but I have the skeleton stock with longer fore-end.
The .25cal is 33″ over all length. If I owned all three like Ride, I think the one I would grab most often is the .22 compact. Its just much easier to handle a smaller gun and its plenty for poppin birds. But I would still like to own the .25 because its fun in its own rights. And it does hit vermin a LOT harder.
Also, Im a pretty new shooter, just started last year. The .25 is an easier caliber for me to shoot long distances past 50yds. I don’t have to be as experienced in wind doping.. I definitely hit the 65yd 1″ spinner a heck of a lot more with the .25 than I did the .22.

It’s a mistery to me how they could stop production of “The Best Bullpup option out there” 😯

Kalibrgun needs to bring back the Cricket Compact! I can’t afford the Edgun Short 🙁

I say nope, you wont, they are over length sized and un weildy in comparison.I got all 3 crickets and grab for the 22 every time !! I just like small format air guns for close in small bird sized prey. I split my shooting between the 22 compact and the Edgun Lelya… See my compact .22 compared the the real .25 shipping these days.

I have both the .25 Marauder and the .25 Cricket. The Cricket hands down out performs the Marauder. -And I thought the Marauder was fantastic when I first got it. I fill to 210 Bar, the shoot about 3 magazines then refill. I know I could get a lot more shots before re-filling, but just reload out of habit after 36 shots. My Cricket is running at about 935 Fps now according to my crony. Now I am contemplating a .22 Cricket to use up some of the .22 caliber pellets I have on hand. – I also have a .22 Marauder. This air gun hobby is damn addictive!

Ive noticed my gun uses a lot more psi per shot at the high fill level (250bar) until it begins to use less and level out maybe around 220bar.
I don’t doubt Matt at all about his velocity and shot count, Ernest does wonders and my gun hasn’t been tuned and I get 60 @920fps. Plus I have a depinger installed thats about 3 1/2″ long, that takes up some room and has to lose me some shots.
Using Jsb Kings I think 920fps equals 47-48 foot pounds energy. For 60 Shots!
If you were satisfied with idea of them getting 45 shots.. you must be thrilled now.
