Q:

Cricket changing poi

I noticed today or it sunk in that between a full tank and half a tank my poi shifts exactly two clicks left. When tank gets to half I need to turn it 2 clicks back. I was shooting sparrows today between 55-65 yards. Dropped them like flies. So at 72 yards a pigeon lands on barn roof. I line up for a broad side shot and made a clean miss. 😡 I was really scratching my head as to what went wrong. Soon a sparrow landed on tree where I had shot a bunch a few minutes ago and missed it too and saw I was a bit to the right. I adjusted scope 2 clicks and was back in business for the remaining clips. Anyone noticed anything like this with their cricket

I don’t have a torque #, but I have a safe way of using a 5″ T-Hex handle— initial tongue 1/4 turn 1,3__2,4 pattern till screws no longer turn with 1/4 flex of the T-handle. sure if you flex the handle 1/2 turn you will tighten the screw more.

quote sniperlabyo:

Here’s one area that I check during a tune:

On or about 180b in the AT, while the stock is on Loosen all barrel clamp screws then pull barrel off the action about 2″ and slowly insert back—-> a properly aligned barrel will have an even clearance entering the action with an even o-ring compression —If miss aligned the barrel will hit the lip of the action then you force the barrel in—now the barrel has more metal contact on one side and is more subject to POI change.

key points—- don’t bottom out the barrel to the action leave about .5mm clearance and have a even o-ring compression —> in other words keep the barrel free floating in the action so when the air tube flex (action is attach to the firing valve) due to changing pressure will minimize POI change.

If the barrel hit the action left or right ===== the action grubscrew #26 aft screw not centered with firing valve flat indent—-the AT clamp was tighten
without checking firing valve and action proper alignment.

The barrel, the Action, the Air tube and stock bolt hole must be properly aligned Before The MONO block / AT / barrel clamp #86 are tighten down!!!!!

Ernest what should the barrel clamp tubes be torqued to?
thanks
Dave

I have read it also on Russian forum. Translated by google :confusedn:

Coming from shooting a 25 Marauder, My 25 Marauder will shoot right with my 22 cricket hole for hole, I have not got to test it out past 48 yards yet,,,,,
Anyway, The Marauders POI changes very easy, if you bump it, pick it up by the barrel, Lean it up against something with the barrel touching , I just learned to baby the Marauder, Not have anything come in contact with the barrel,, Yes I have bought three different barrel bands to try to stop this, (130, bucks so far)
Could the Changing POI of the Cricket come from any of the above, Now I have no problem with my 22 Cricket and POI changing, But I baby it liker the Marauder, Habit now.
I got an old style 25 cricket coming and I hope there is not a POI change problem with it,
I will be scrambling to get the new parts if the POI change pops up on my gun….
Just thinking out loud.

I wouldn’t say it is a manufacturing issue, it’s more a result of improper assembly.

I would tend to agree, my .25 doesn’t shift poi at all from mag to mag. But I have never removed or even loosened the clamp screws at all…. then again the fear of “fuxing” something up is the whole reason I probably will not mess with those clamp screws for the foreseeable future

New style or original style .25?

I was wondering myself I’d the newer ones had the issue fixed with new clamps. Did they upgrade the clamps on the 22 as well?

Do the kaliber gun rifles have this problem? Also do the new improved .25 Cricket still have the poi shift?
Dave

My bug also shifts POI after my second clip from left to right about 1/4 inch at 25 yards. For a couple of weeks I found myself chasing zero but after I pulled up some old grouping I found it has been going it for some time. I just adjust my POA after my second clip. My Cricket has never really rose to my expectation like some of the grouping Zonk has posted. 1/2 to 1/4 inch group at best @ 25 yards (should be pellet on pellet). After my tune could only get 876 FPS with JSB 18’s. She is still a good gun just hasn’t reach her potential. Maybe will send her off for a re-tune in the future?

I’ve noticed left to right shifts also but thought it must be something in my hold or cheek weld.

I really can’t say for sure if it relates to the fill but I’ll be mindful of it going forward. Hadn’t heard of it before so thought it must’ve been me.

What is the recommend torque specs?
Thanks
Dave

I think I did 15 foot pounds on the screws. Not as tight as they are from factory. I remember them being so tight from factory I thought they were welded in

eelect did you any adjustment or reassemble on your cricket before? Was it done only from the factory?

I bought the gun used. I have taken it apart a couple times.

Eelect, I think what it is is you’ve been lax in shooting all summer and probablly forgot how to shoot. My advice is to stop working and pick up the pace on your shooting skills like me and all your troubles will go away……………… :8:

Zonk

Zonk I’m actually out shooting quite a bit but not like full bore. But there are no more varmints left to shoot. So it looks like I did my share. I just have not paid the forums a visit as I have in the past as I’m very busy at the moment. Not retired yet. 42 years old a week ago
