New to 257 with a few questions…
I just put together a 257 and have a few questions about it. I have a TalonP that I installed a TJ 24″ 257 barrel on it. I also installed the 95gr hammer with the Slap Mod. I put on a WokGard on also. Finally I installed a RL Extreme Valve in a Condor tank and am using that. If I fill the tank to 3200psi and have the power wheel set at 11 I am getting 870FPS with the 69gr hollow point slugs. So far accuracy seems good but I only put about 20 rounds down the tube and I want to fire lap the barrel also. What is everyone doing to get more power out of these guns? Looks like I am about maxed out at 117FPE. Do I need a different valve? A heavier hammer springs? Just looking at advice on what to do.

I heard from Doug. He is going to make me a valve. I am pretty excited about this now.
It is a Dyotat valve. And VERY well made! Doug has been busy with his day job lately. Hard to get ahold of.

What valve are you using? One of Dyotat100 or one you made? I sent Dyotat a PM about getting one of his valves but he hasn’t gotten back to me yet. I am really liking how this gun is shooting, just wish i could get it up to around 950FPS with the 69gr slugs I have on hand.
Nope I am not running a tank adapter right now. I was thinking of getting one to get the tank a little lower. But if it restricts the air I won’t get one.
Dyotat do I need to talk to you about getting a valve?
Are you running tank adapter right now? Remove it and see if you gain any fps. I know it doesn’t flow enough for my valve. I haven’t seen one so I don’t know if there is away to get more air through them.

Thanks for the info. How do I go about getting a Dyotat100 valve?
Right now I do not cast my own slugs so I am limited to what I can buy from the makers. I have some more 70gr ordered along with some 88gr Spitzers. I don’t plan on shooting anything bigger then the 88gr for now. Maybe down to road I will build a 2nd 257 for the heavy stuff. I need to order some of the 55gr ones to try.
Also will the Dyotat100 work with the Talon Tunes Tank Adapter?

Yep! You need a Dyotat100 valve, and or a lighter bullet. I milled down my lyman 257420 t throw a 56 grain bullet and the NOE 80 grain fp to throw a 60 grain bullet. I can now easily go over 1000 fps with it. In fact, with one valve I had here, it was shooting 1080.
This was with dyotats .25 valve. His .257 valve is even stronger. But your bbl. is already set up for the smaller .25 top hat – stem. Not the .257 valve, which requires the breach area of the barrel to be larger in dia.

I got a condor in a Maddog stock that I might get the longer 257 barrel for and make 2 guns now. These are a lot of fun.
