Q:

Serial #879 Cricket .25 vertical stringing!! Need help

I’m getting perfectly vertical groups at 52yds. The string varies from 1″-2″ long. I’ve already tried loosening the barrel&tube clamp screws, and retightened them while my tank is filled to half my normal fill pressure. I also backed the barrel a little off of the breach (1/32″), just so it’s not snug to the breach per what I’ve read on an earlier post from Ernest. Thought I’d give this all a try since I have the older model .25 that had some shifting with changing fill pressures.
I also made damn sure the barrel transfer port is lined up.
Of course I shouldn’t have messed with it but I installed a depinger a couple months ago, and was getting 1/2″ at 50yds regardless of fill pressure BEFORE putting in the depinger. Today is the first time I’m doing serious group testing, gun clamped down in vise, and noticing this guns not up to its potential.
I have all day to mess with it and get her back on track, so start tossing ideas at me guys.. I’ll try to give you as many variables as I can to help figure it out-
Shooting 25.4g Kings
Don’t currently know velocity- it was 920fps/kings when it came to me and I haven’t messed with any settings.
Ask me anything you need to know to help me out!!
My fill pressure is 230b-130b.
I’m very tempted to play with the HST, just making very minor turns to see whats what, but I’m going to try to hold back and talk myself into buying a new chrony. I hate spending money on things I’ll seldom use..
If anyone has a back-up, or old beater chrony, I’d appreciate a loan! I’ll handle all the fees of course.

As already stated it sounds like your velocity isn’t or wasn’t consistant. I have slight gaps (dental floss width) between my barrels and receivers on both my .22 & .25 and have no stringing Vert. or Horiz. Sounds like you may have assembled the Monoblock incorrectly the last time around or the reg needed to resettle in. Glad you have it sorted now.

From what your describing.. Sounds like your pressure is fluctuating.

Try waiting a little longer between shots. If it improves sounds like your depinger maybe blocking to much flow.

Update***
So I backed the barrel back up firmly against the breech and clamped it down again..
Voila! Weird thing is the Kings now group within a quarter at 52yds, while I shot 3 groups with the Polymags that totally out-shined the Kings!- two groups covered by a nickel, the third was 3/8″ and totally swallowed by a dime. It’s strange that it’s totally favoring the Polymags now.. But I’m glad it does.

Hate to say it but maybe take the depinger out and see if it improves?
