Anyone use ATN MK390 Paladin Gen 1 NV Scope?
I found them online for $340, they’re rated pretty good.
I only need it to work under 50yds.
Anyone ever use one of these or a similar Gen 1 scope?
I want an actual NV scope, not a camera like set-up.

I used the 410 model of that same scope. I would recommend an auxiliary NV light from Ebay. Get at least a 1W in power and be sure to get the right frequency or the scope won’t be able to “see” that frequency. I believe they are usually 850 nm, but don’t quote me on that. The Chinese lights are fine and work well.
That scope will do fine at 50 yards. Expect some “fisheye” effect (clear focus in the center of the picture, with some distortion around the outside.) It’s never as clear as they show you in the ad, but it is acceptable for use at close range and a good second light can extend the range, and enhance the picture at all distances.
You probably will need a pair of NV goggles, or an NV monocular to scout around for shots. Doing that with the rifle is awkward and heavy.
Unless you are in a “target rich” environment, like a dump, trash pile, feed box, or where there are a LOT of critters, I’d suggest just getting a very bright led flashlight instead, or one of the green laser adjustable flashlights. That way you can spot and shoot at the same time. I found NV to be expensive, bulky, awkward, and difficult to use. Again, if you have a barn or chicken coop where lots of critters live, I wouldn’t waste the money on NV. To do it right, you need two to three grand for a FLIR or high end digital setup. Insane money for what you get out of it. It sounds like fun, but you tire of it quickly if there are few to no targets to be found on a regular basis.
