Q:

Easiest way to remove shroud?

I have a carbon fiber shroud I’d like to swap out on my EdGun single shot .22 Long model. What’s the easiest way to remove the shroud. I see the hex fitting after removing the shroud end, just ahead of the baffles, but don’t want to overdo torquing it. Is complete disassembly needed, or just more muscle on the hex fitting?

Tension. Pull two parts away from each other with enough force, and the result is pressure on the threads that can hold two parts together quite effectively. IF I understand your question correctly.

OK. Got the shroud off. Upper case and barrel seem to be loose. I screwed the barrel in slightly beyond hand tight. It’s not a very close fit where it emerges from the upper case at the junction of the shroud. What keeps the “upper case” from moving in relation to the breech assembly?

No!

Hoot:

So I don’t need to take the gun apart, remove the breech, air reservoir, scope rail clamp, etc?

The first time you take off that nut it is b*tch! what I did was lay my gun on it’s side on top of a bed, put a towel on the body and held it down, while I crank that nut. It will come off.
