Q:

.25 condor performance

g’day all

i recently purchased a .25 condor intended for small-med hunting purpose. so for im not super pleased with the performance. at 55yards im getting 3inch group of 10shots. i can put pellets on same hole for 2 3 shots and suddenly it went way off for another 2 3 4 pellets. even at 33yards im getting 2inch group. ive cleaned the barrel, tried different pw settings too. being in indonesia im very limited on pellet choices. jsb king, polymag predator, baracuda 31gr, eunjin domed and pointed nose 43gr. those are my only options here. and all making similar group.

now, looking at the chrony i can see consistent jumps after every 2 3 4 shots. at pw4 using jsb, start with 2900psi im getting 968,1010, 1007, 993, 1021, 1015, 1012, 998, 990, 1021, 1020, 1010, 992, 1025, 1040 (left with 2550psi)

ive tried at pw 0 too, fps much lower around 823, varied furthest to 964 at 2500psi and doing similar pattern too.

so basically the speed jumps all over the place. is this normal with stock afc? the group im getting is not only vertically, but side to side as well. ive got another .25 cricket which when pressure goes bellow reg, i started to put pellet a little bit under but doesnt go side to side. this afc really got me scratching my head. any help much appreciated guys

quote kinoko:

can .25 ever get as accurate as the smaller cal?

oh yes, my condor outshoots all my other guns past 35 yards. out at 85 or 90- smacking golfballs 8-9 times out of 10. :4: most of the misses are on me. 😳 hope you get your gun sorted out… they are a pain when they don’t, but a blessing when they do.
:8:

In general it depends mostly on the that old mighty variable the wind.

.177 cal and .22 cal bucks the wind about the same if you ask me I’m taking about maybe a .1″ difference @ 50 yards depending on the gun , shooter and the weather conditions and pellet batch.

.25 cal on the other hand has a more noticeable difference @ 75 yards and above, but that’s just my option on the subject.

A lot of shooters will disagree with just about everything we all have a different experiences with different guns at different times in our lives.

You can count on one thing kinoko, is that we may all agree to disagree.

~ GKU, gone hunting.

thank you so much guys. can .25 ever get as accurate as the smaller cal? ive got an HW100 and cricket .177 that put pellets pretty much on same hole at 54yards. anyway i really would love to get my hands on TT tophat and any other parts recommended. maybe they can send it to singapore and i could fly there to pick it up perhaps? im guessing i have to contact tony him self? anyway thanks for the input guys

You can take a look into what I did to mines as reference as all guns are and can be a bit different.

Also, adding an o-ring (1/4 ID x 3/8 OD x 1/16″ T) in the back of the top hat will instantly improve shot count, consistency, it will save you a hole lot of air for more shot and less fills between shooting.

I would leave the top hat at it’s factory setting just make sure the top hat is not loose! Don’t over tighten the 2 grub screws on the top hat, the walls are quit thin on the Condors. Then just add the O-ring with silicone lube, crony to check consistency, shot speared and extreme spread as well. Blue lock-tite the screw when you find your sweet spot.

When you are sure about the clearance go back and add blue lock-tite to the top hat main body threads as well. I just feed some in with a tooth pick right on the gun and let it dry overnight. Some even used red lock-tite to make there own one piece top hat. Stock top hats are dirt cheep enough to buy more from Tony. http://talontunes.com/shop/condor-top-hat/

As you read my post mine do prefer Kings and Polymags at 920ish also.

Hope this helps, GKU

The pellet speeds are too high. For JSB Kings, I’d try to get around 920-930 fps. You may need to lower your fill below 2,500 psi and start w/ a pw that’s 0-2. Use the chrony to get a starting fps below the targeted fps; then the fps will climb, hopefully into the accuracy zone.

Don’t be surprised if you get better results with a starting fill of 2,200 psi. Ignore target shooting until your chrony results look promising. To get a higher shot count, using higher fill pressures, you may benefit from Tony’s top hat flow restrictors, an o-ring behind the top hat or other tricks you can find in this site.

Good luck!
