Interesting.

quote madmunki:

“no purchase necessary”, and tells you how to enter without buying anything, therefor it isn’t a raffle but a giveaway.

We call it a “Xmas Raffle” kinda like you are “surfing the web”.

You are not surfing nor is it a web.

I have a very little used Benjamin Nitro piston rifle with scope I would donate, I am sure I could dig up another gun to donate to keep it company. Neil.

Tony,

I’ve got a .308 Condor I can toss in. I can’t say it’s a state of the art gun but it’s operable as is and has a DAQ .308 barrel. (Could use a better valve)

A raffle is where tickets are sold and the money pooled to buy an item and its give to a random raffle ticket buyer. This requires the special permits as I noted above, as its a form of gambling. If no money is being exchanged for a chance(s) to win, then its a give-a-way.

I also said “If your thinking members buying tickets..”.

There is a kinda of a loop-hole that companies do to get around this… they offer something forsale, and say “for each purchase you enter in the giveaway/sweepstakes”. If you read the small text disclaimer, it says “no purchase necessary”, and tells you how to enter without buying anything, therefor it isn’t a raffle but a giveaway.

Where do you see that we are “selling” raffle tickets?

I have run very large forums in the past, and been down this road. If your thinking members buying tickets for a chance to win a bigger prize, you need to be a federally recognized charity, or a lawful not for profit business. Otherwise this falls under gambling.

That sounds good D…
Let’s go that route
thanks, Tony

x mass raffle for sure…..

I like the way that the Yellow does it with the state lotto numbers. Seems to be a solid and fair way to handle it.
