Cricket 22 & Huntsman 22 at 100 yrd

It’s been over 6 months since I got chance to visit the range so finally took couple hours off yesterday and took some of my guns there for some zeroing and group testing (cricket 22, huntsman 22, and a vanguard Win 270 which I just bought recently and wanted to zero a scope at). The Huntsman is the new Daystate Huntsman Regal which I bought in June but aside from taking it once for hunting I have not got chance to shoot with it more. The cricket I use more frequently and more comfortable with.

After using the 50 yrd to sanity check the scope zeros, I went directly to the 100 yrd which is the distance I was eagerly looking far. The cricket started shooting with groups as wide as 1.5 inches and then I realized the HST was not all the way and measured the speed to be in high 850s to 860. I pushed it further to the maximum I could get which was high 870s to 880 and the groups got better then. I still hope I could have pushed it to 890 and 900 which I know is a preferred range but I will need to do more than HST adjustment for that. Something for next visit.

I took these two groups with the cricket 22 at 100 yard. the first was 0.46″ CTC and the second was 0.69″ CTC. Both substantially below 1 MoA and closer to half MoA.

The huntsman was pleasure to shoot with and easy to control and hold very steady at the target. It gave the 1 MoA accuracy at 100 yard that I was looking for but frankly I was hoping for sub 1 MoA. One thing to note though is that I have not cleaned that gun barrel before the shooting. Actually I have not cleaned the barrel period (ouch), so it probably have not showed its full potential yet.

The scopes used were SWFA SS 3-15 on the cricket and Aeon 6-24 on the Huntsman Regal.
Pellets used were JSB 18.1 gr for both guns.
