.257 condor barrel velocity w 88gr Spitzer
Im currently using the .257 caliber 700mm barrel and 100 gram hammer from rl airgun supply. My top hat is unscrewed 2 full turns open to increase valve output, and im getting about 600 fps at the start of a 2500 psi fill at a power setting of 12. I figure thats about 60 fpe. I get a 900/875 fps respectfully from big boys (40gr) equaling the same 60 fpe. So, my question is does any one else run this configuration, and if so can anyone suggest any thing that will help get th 88 gr slugs up to the 900 fps range? Has any one installed the extreme valve from rl yet. Im looking to get up to 100 fpe from this gun. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Robert

Thanks doug. I have the TT heavy spring coming in still, however i dont believe it to be necessary unless the fill pressure is over 3000. Im already dumping 300+ psi per shot. The presure wave released in my tiny basment is strong enough to make the base drum on my drum set play itself as if it were hit by a decent blow from the foot pedal. I cant see more air beeing necessary, however as i stated last post chrony results will be final word. I will post those tonight hopefully.

I just installed extreme valve on 257 cal with 95 gram hammer and stock spring, the power wheel at lowest setting and 3000 psi fill using 88 gr spitzer each shot dropps tank pressure about 300-350 psi and these rounds disintegrate from 25 ft shooting through 1/2 inch particle board with cement wall behind leavung about 1/4 inch chip of cement blown off. Absolutly amazing power. Cant wait to chrony.

Check it out and respond with your thoughts if you would. I’ll be sure to check in periodically. Short story.. I was a little disappointed, but not giving up.
Has anyone tried to use the R&L extreme valve with 22 cal pellets? I heard that might be to strong?

Just got the RL extreme valve and one piece top hat in my condor .25. No other mods. Stock 24″ barrel. Before I was getting 907 fps with 53gn bullets from hunter’s supply. This weekend I will post the chrony results with same bullet. I’m guessing some lead in the low to mid 60 gns will be the best bet for fpe and trajectory but don’t have any yet, I will decide after some chrony work. I am used to my sam yang recluse as far as airguns go but the condor is so fun to shoot I’m trying to make it my next coyote airgun. Anyway, thought some might like to know what the extreme valve will do on a stock rifle so I will post asap. In the mean time its cold as heck tonight but I’m going out to call some in. See ya
The Grouping was great! In the 1/4 to 3/8’s range on several groups, and 1/2 was typical.
The Lightened NOE at 60 grains seems to be a very accurate bullet indeed. In fact, it is out shooting the full weight 80 grainers for me. 😀

I am also wanting a Valve from Doug, I am currently shooting stock condor valve with Tonys adjustable top hat, a 95 gram hammer heavier spring and I shoot 72 grain bullets out of 257 Im getting 950 average. 100 yard groups that are around 1.5″

R&L has continued to improve their valve system. Randy sent me three different valve bodies, and the newest version of their valve stem. It is well machined and fairly conservative on air.
Here are the numbers in both my carbon fiber tank AND the standard AF tank.
as many of you know, I cast my own bullets from a custom NOE mold that throws them out at 60 grains. This is a 20-1 lead tin mix, and is Very-Very accurate!!! Think 1/4″ out of a good barrel accurate 0n my 80 yard Home Range.
AF tank @ 3000 psi.
973 fps @ 126 fpe This is a HUGE performance increase above the Stock AF Condor valve, which was tested first. It ran a little over 800 fps. In fact at 3200 it ran 830 for a fpe of 91.8.
That’s a 34 fpe increase from the valve alone folks!
Now for the good stuff!!!
In the CF bottle, set at 3700, the factory valve hit only 850 for a fpe of 96.28. It would seem that the AF valve had pretty much reached it’s limit of flow capacity.
This is with the supplied valve body and newest stem.
3000 psi in a factory bottle with 3000 psi, 973 fps for a fpe of 126. Not bad at all!
Now put this same valve in the cf bottle, and fill to 3700 psi, and it still responds.
It put the 60 gr. NOE Flat Point down range at 1037 fps for a total of 143.31 fpe.
I would say that this is a very respectable improvement over the factory offering. In fact, a Woo-Hoo Improvement!!! LOL!!! :8:
What’s more, it is immediately available with a simple phone cal, visit to R&L’s web site, or e-mail.
I am currently testing out their shroud. More to come! 😉

Its just to make it stronger. The .25 valve stem will fail if you over port it and use high pressure.
.257 and .308 is still the same.

I am happy to hear that your valve is indeed still something that you can and will still make available to those that wish to build with the best and most powerful custom valve around. You mentioned a new shaped stem and different material? How much has this improved upon your valve Doug?

Knife…..On your RL Extreme valve testing below, what weight spring and hammer are you using? Any special TOPHAT adjustments? I just recieved 3 days ago, Randys .257 and 28″ TJ barrel with 10# spring with the BRASS 95 gram hammer, in Madddog stock. Brand new at this and getting another bottle for 3700 psi, and want to know what i need to increase for optimal performance??? Thanks for any help and any others suggestions welcome too…………rifle50
