Q:

Pellet of Choice

Just wondering what pellets & velocity people like for the .25 long. I see only the JSB’s discussed, but does anyone prefer something else?

With appx 100k shots on my 25 long the preferred pellet is the JSB 25 or its twin Air Arms 25 pellet at 940 Fps in my long.
MOA at 100 yds is consistent even approaching 1000fps. However when pushing out to 150 and 200 I found that 940 was best for achieving MOA with some normalcy.

Adjusting only HST I was able to get my .25 std at 890fps with the Kings. It is more accurate than I can shoot from bag and bipod. My favorite target for plinking has become yellow paintballs on golf tees.

Might be after christmas, but I definitely will do, and thanks for the advice.

I found the same. My .22 likes 905 with the 18.1 JSB. The .25 is really accurate at 960. There is a relationship between the regulator and the HST. To slow down the pellets below 900 in the 25 you should adjust the regulator not just the HST The H&N hit birds hard. It produces a terrible thump sound when striking larger bodied birds

Post some photos of your groups of you can I would love to see how your gun performs with the 31 H&N

Its 4 mos old, I have just over 1000 pellets through it, I figured i’d just shoot it and break it in. Gave it a good barrel cleaning, shot @ 60 pellets, turned the hst down @ 2 turns and shot a few @ 850. turned it up 1/4 every 9 shots and had swirling pellets all the way till it got to @ 2-12 turn in – 975. pellets seem to have stopped swirling and darted to fly with minimal swirl. I bought a caldwell lead sled and was going to try a few different pellets and start the speed / accuracy test with the Jsb’s and any other recommended pellet. I just thought it was weird that it seemed to shoot better at higher than normal speeds (according to people on the forum). The lead sled and a good table should minimize the human factor, I’ll try the h&n & jsb’s when i get a chance.

I’m not sure how new your gun is but the JSB should work. I would try cleaning the barrel and trying them again. My Edgun is shooting the H&N at 893

Thanks, although the JSB’s are the recommended pellet, they don’t seem to be flying straight from 800 – 950, but get better at 975. What speed are your H&N’s flying?

My gun does like the H&N 31s
