Q:

airforce edge bigbore?

Hi.
Can you tell me guys if anybody was trying to put a bigbore barrel, 308 or larger, in to an edge frame?
I was trying to find a more rigid platform for a new project.

Well, have it as you wish.
Looking at the AirForce product line and their enginnering design, and at the practical applications and mods of several air gunners, you don’t see that many applications of the Edge for anything but target shooting. There’s got to be a reason.

Anybody who is ready to invest hundred of dollars for a Talondor whould have figured out sooner that an Edge was more suitable for larger calibers.
And why would AirForce produce a .25 powerhouse in a Condor frame if the Edge design was better?

Thing is I don’t think it makes much difference at all.
But I trust the results of those who have walked the path of larger caliber and they all seem to like and adopt the Talon/Condor platform.

Have fun, though. And please post some comparison numbers between the two frame types performance.
You might be up to something.

Cheers
Chris

Talon frame it is suitable but after more improvements.

quote Lambertus:

My guess is that the Talon frame is the least suitable to use for a bigbore conversion.

hmmmm….. TALONDOR guys! c’mon!
If a talon is not suitable why is the talondor such a great conversion?

Interesting theory.

I also thought about using an Edge frame as base for a .257 build.
It looks a bit bulkier than the Talon and Condor frames.

My guess is that the Talon frame is the least suitable to use for a bigbore conversion, since the scoperail spans less of the breech than the Condor scoperail.

I have read that using a one piece scopemount or a tri-rail can improve the frame strength around the breech area.
Maybe the WOK triggerguard adds a bit of stifness to the frame as well.

I think is more stiffer because it have a thicker scope rail.

what about the condor SS frame?
Granted you can use an Edge or what you want, but that was designed for 10-12fpe.

I guess I don’t get it….
