Testing my new Casio EX-ZR700 camera (1000 fps)
I recently bought a new Casio camera and many of you have already seen the results of the pictures that it can take. But i am less than happy with its SLO MO features and even though this is a newer model camera, my older Casio EX-FH20 took better (read less grainy) slow mo video. Unfortunately, that camera is long gone without a trace of what happened to it. Both models though take damn fine pictures once you have all the setting SET correctly. And for those of you that have ANY of the Casio models, you know like i do that the 1000 frames per second setting comes out horribly grainy even in broad day light. So while seriously bored at home and NOT wanting to edit videos, i decided to make ANOTHER video (that i would have to later edit…lol). THIS VIDEO.
So now, i pull out the ole 500 watt dual Halogen construction lamp and set it up on the far side of the slightly clear ballisteks gel block. I then set my Casio on the near side of the BG about 3 ft away and begin checking the 1000 fps image. You know, to see if the video was CLEAR enough and grain free. And it was. I then pull out the TD257 and fill her up. The gun was placed down range a loooooooooong 10 feet away! I know guys, i know……..thats darned far away to be shooting ballistics gel but……bare with me….lol!
The bullets of choice are the 100 gr HP Spitzers from RJ Porter at Accurate Big Bore Airgun Ammo and the other is from a NOE mold that KnifeMaker modified for me (THANKS MIKE). Mike took my 80 gr NOE mold and shaved off the top of the block so as it would no longer make 80 gr bullets but 70 grain ones. And in HP form, those bullets roughly weigh 68.5 grs and have a really deep and wide HP cavity. The speed of the 2 cast slugs are 906 fps for the 100 gr HP Spitzer and 1015-1020 fps for the modified NOE 68.5 gr HP. The gel block took all of these speeds and is told by the shaking and jiggling and wiggling. The 100 gr Spitzer expanded to .405″. Up from .2575″ diameter. The NOE expanded to .386″. Up from the same .2575″ diameter. The effects of the expansion of the projectiles while inside the gel shows the slugs deadly affects on game. This caliber doesn’t require follow up shots with body shots UNLESS, the shot is just horribly bad or low from the start.
