Q:

Which is better for 120yards – Cricket Rifle or BP?

I could not find it no more but I think I saw a review comparison on the long accuracy of the Cricket Bullpup against the Cricket rifle. There was mention of different barrels. I am not sure now.

80 yards with my .22 cal cricket is my comfort zone, but I’ve shoot about 7 or 8 pigeons at 112 yards and hit a starling at 132 yards. There are quite a few videos of long range cricket shots.

OK I am going to agree with Larry, At 120 yards its going to be the shooter, But you got to have the gun to do it with,,, A Crossman 760 is not going to cut it.
Unless Zonk shots it, ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

An air gun at 120 yards (109 meters)…it had better be the shooter…LOL

Barrel length has nothing to do with accuracy in a manner some people think. What a longer barrel do have over its shorter brethren is that it offers the possibility for higher velocities and itยดs more efficient from the air consumption POV.
And as already mentioned it often times offers a steadier rig. In some cases a longer barrel can be less accurate too. It takes the Pellet longer time to get out of the barrel and longer barrels vibrate more than the shorter ones.

The longer barrel is not always the most accurate option. My first PCP gun was a Theoben rapid MK2. It had a 23 inch barrel that eventually Allen Z cut and put on of his shrouds on the gun. I came from the long range rifle world and some of my long range guns had 29 inch barrels. I needed long barrels for speed, spin and powder burn time. I saw the 23″ barrel on the Theoben and my thoughts went to my Surgeon 260 Rem with a 26″ barrel. I thought long was better. Those factors found so often in a centerfire rifle don’t exist in a PCP gun. The time for a 4K fps bullet to leave the barrel is measured in nano seconds , this is not the case with a PCP gun. There is time to wiggle ever so slightly and throw the pellet off target. So mechanically speaking I don’t think there is much difference between the rifle and BP for long range accuracy. Ergonomics and weight are a different story. There is no doubt in my mind that a rifle with a Monte Carlo cheek piece is the better long range option. There is less chance for parallax error and the heavy longer gun is more steady on the bench. Having said that if you are going to shoot from your car then the BP is more comfortable. The barrels are pretty much the same on both the BP and rifle The shooter must first identify the need then fit the “system to meet the need.

I am going to say the one with the longer barrel..
Just my learning , Is the bullpups take a very steady hand and shot.
My Max range right now is 48 Yards , My Marauder 25 will shoot right with my 22 and 25 cricket,
My marauder is very barrel sensitive, I can not lean it on anything, I have to really baby it or I will knock the POI off and I will have to recite it in,
I have after market barrel bands on it but its still baby the rifle or you will not hit the target…
oops off subject , A rifle is easer to shoot than a bull pup….
If I have to kill that pest bird at the 48 yard feeder, I just have to , I will always grab the 22 cricket, Just because I always know its got more pressure in it then the 25,,,,,
What was the question?
