Pellet Speed and Edgun .22 STD
Today I decided to fool around with the Edgun standard. I was going to chase crows but they were pre-warned by a family member that I was coming( thanks a lot Hoot) so I decided to shoot targets. I normally shoot just the 18.1 JSB but I have 1000s of 15.89 JSB so I had the bright idea to try them. I was planning on turning the HST down slightly because the Eddie was shooting the 18.1 at 920 but I was curious how the 15.89 would do at that setting. The 18.1 are zeroed at 68 yards (that happens to be the exact range of my sparrow tree in the backyard). I set up a target at 75 yards hoping that I could get a 2 zero gun with different weight pellets. I planned that the speed would be too great for the 15.89 but I needed a baseline so I left the gun at it’s 34 foot pound setting.
The 15.89 showed a consistent 993 FPS and I she was zeroed at 74 yards as a result.

Does this make any sense? I am an old Theoben guy, I have shot Theobens for many years and I could never achieve this kind of accurate speed with a 15.89. My Theoben will only shoot these at a max of 890 before they spin. I know from asking Eduard that the rate of twist is 410mm same as the Theoben. Why will the Edgun throw this pellet so much faster and keep it stable? Any ideas?

The wobbling/spiral can be checked closely on slow motion video 960/970fps is not the right speed to shoot with a 18.1grs.
Check your Math dude.

My gun 18.1 grain velocity 960-970 non spiral and best accu.
Nowadays , the LW barels are adoring the .51mm caliber (4.51mm & 5.51mm) with the R3M
I’m getting the ultimate accuracy by using these 2 calibers with the H&N Baracuda Match.
Set at 900fps.
I’m loooovin these pellets with a BRAIN.
About 7-8 years ago JSB 16 Gr was a recommended one for Matadors. But LW barrels back then had different twists.
