Q:

Problem with new style trigger

I have a 2014 Talon SS with the new trigger group and was trying to lighten the pull by inserting lighter springs. During the mod I noticed that my trigger was rubbing against the side of the safety bar. I removed just the trigger to see if there was a remedy for the problem. When I re-installed the trigger I began having problems. When I cock the gun the safety will not engage. If I manually engage the safety it will cock, but the safety becomes very stiff to release. When it releases the gun fires. I replaced all of the stock springs and the problem still persists. What did I do wrong?

Also does anybody know of exploded view drawings of the new style trigger group?

I think the horizontal cylinder and spring, locks the third trigger sear in place when the safety is on?

This is a very cool trigger mod and more then likely the best one I’ve seen so far.

Finally got the trigger working. I think I tracked the problem down to the metal cylinder that sits behind the horizontal spring that’s at the front of the trigger assembly. There is a groove machined into the cylinder which is slightly offset to the center. I had the cylinder with the thick side facing forward. The gun would fire a few times and the safety would lock up. By reversing the direction of the cylinder the problem went away.

While I was fiddling with the trigger I found that the majority of the friction on the trigger was caused by the trigger rubbing on the safety bar. I did polish the sides of the trigger and safety bar, where they interfaced and that seemed to help, but it’s going to need on-going maintenance.

For those who have removed the safety did you remove the horizontal spring and cylinder in the front, the little dog bone piece in the middle and the spring and ball bearing at the rear?

Also, has anyone installed the set screws to limit first stage travel and over- travel?

Hardware store. Bought a finer gauge wire size. A coil that was way too long, but snipped it to what I needed. Good thing is was long … it took a couple of tries to get the length right for feel and snap back of the trigger.

where did you buy you lighter spring?

This happened to me as well. There’s a small figure 8 shaped lever close to the middle spring perch, along the safety bar side of the the trigger guts channel. It pivots on the pin located closest to the barrel shroud. Be sure that fits into it’s slot in the safety lever bar when you install. Load up the lube so it runs smooth.
I need to make the trigger lighter too, and eliminate that horrid crunching. Went with teflon washers either side of the trigger and removed that pesky safety altogether. Lighter spring added.
Nice and smooth now and very light.
