Some barrels like lube, and some do not. One thing is for sure, never, ever lube the moving parts with divers Sil. Grease. It is not for lubing. It will simply cause the parts to become more and more sticky, until it totally gunks up. And catches any and all grit it can get! It is for sealing “O” Rings. That’s all!

If you are having tank dump, try the same settings, and use a rubber “O” Ring Behind the Top Hat!

And as far as Cudas -vs- Kodiacs, and one shooting better at longer ranges, Uuh__ They are the same pellet. One marketed in a H&N tin, and one In a Beeman Tin. Same pellet.

There are copper plated avaliable in them. Makes a difference in some guns.

I have been lubing with KryTech bicycle lube. It’s a dry wax type lube, seems to work well and smells purdy adang good too!

Guess I’ll have to try the Kodiaks – I’ve been mighty impressed with the ‘cudas. Are you lubing your pellets? (I haven’t started, but figured I’d do so for a while. First I’m going to ‘scope the bore and see if there’s any discernible buildup, clean if necessary, then see what impact lube has.

Sure love these rifles!

No I was told NOT to oil the pellets, another variable in the formula!, I take my bottle off, then use a bore snake with rem oil from breech coward.

Onebaddj thanks for the info! I like to compare the tunes, my sweet spot seems to be 2.6-2.0psi too

If you watch the video that comes with the rifle, they recommend lubing. The recommendation not to lube is usually for springers, which may diesel, but apparently some of the PCP’s are prone to leading without lube. As you say – just another variable in the mix!

You got your gun set up about like mine. Here are the numbers from a few on my strings before i added the reg setup. I could not run without a restrictor in the tophat or it would dump the bottle. 1st time scared the crap outa me. The tt tophat does exactly what it says it will though and it got the 32 gr ej moving. These guns are a ton of fun.

First string bone stock gun set at 4/4 2650 psi start 22 shots high 986.1 low was the fisrts shot 937.1. 13th shot was the highest. Stopped and the pressure was 2k psi.

Added tt hammer and top hat wide open 3150 psi fill 8/10 32.4 gr ej sent flying at 1053 and dumped the bottle and my colon.

Added middle restrictor 1800 psi functional check at 2/0 with 25.4 gr jsb after thourough inspection  of course. It hit 802.6.

Back to 2450 11 shots 25.4 2/0 on the power wheel for 896.74 avg.

2650 psi no restrictor in top hat 2/0 power wheel 25.4 jsb and dumpped the bottle again! 1081 fps though.

2650 mid regulator in the top hat 4/4 powerwheel 32.4 gr ej 876 fps avg 9 shot string 893.9 down to 864.2.

2650 1/0 25.4 gr jsb  922.35 avg 9 shots start at 934 and steady drop to 911.3.

2900 psi start 1/0 mid restrictor 25.4 jsb 936.79 avg 18 shots start at 949.9 drop to 913.7.

How many shots are you getting with the bigger insert in?

GsT

25 shots, 2.7-2.0k psi, PW lowest it’ll go, cleaned the gun, diver silica the moving parts. Crony this am 10 shots from 2.7psi fill ave 855fps w/21gr…seems like I might be getting it close. Cuda’s are tight till past 60yards, Kodiak’s stay tighter 60-120yards

Not Bad! Now try it without an insert. This will be wide open!

Should be good for the Kod’s and use the largest insert for the JSB”S. 😉

Christmas tree

I did that, ave Fps is 1050, to loud and pellets are twisting
