Q:

Quick change top hat vs. jds airman regulator?

Has anyone tried both and can offer a comparison? Looking at getting a condor in .20 for (fun) target shooting. Hot buttons are max shot count and good consistency. From what I’ve read it looks like the quick change tophat has the nod for ease of installation and price, but how close to a regulator can it get?

The jds is adjustable,,, you pull the reg apart and change the washers around,,

the altaros is adjustable ,, you take the bottle off after pulling air out, and you have a screw that adjust the reg out put.

PS: at the end, it’s always all about: what is your budget? and what are you trying to achieve?
There are physical limitations to power vs range vs shot counts. you quite always need to sacrifice something.

Thanks. I haven’t found an adjustable regulator for the Condor yet, but I’ll keep looking…

If you can get a regulator, get a regulator.
It’s the only true device that allows you to get consistent shots.
Get one that you can adjust the pressure yourself if you want to play at lower pressure for higher shot counts.

While an adjustable top-hat surely provides a decent way to work on hi-low power modulation at will, it will never equal the performance of a regulator.
